Andris Poga, the artistic director of the LNSO, adds: “I am always very happy to play Peter’s music – whether it is a premiere, an opus or a work on a record album. It is extremely interesting to see how Vaska’s music is perceived and played by orchestras in Latvia and abroad. in this concert I am in charge of “Lauda” and “Vox Amoris” – both of these works I have played many times – both in concerts in Latvia and together with outstanding European musicians in Germany, France, Slovakia and other countries.”
“Concert program” Presence “will be like a spiritual experience, as a way to fulfillment, to a possible ideal world – from silent reflection and natural beauty in the composition” Landscape Landscape “to a confirmation of light in the choral work” Mother Sun “, passing through the radiance of love “Vox Amoris” to the opus of the symphony orchestra “Lauda” and culminating in the four-time fort “Laudate Dominum”.
The drama of the program will resonate with the composer’s conviction not to allow the severity of suffering, but to endure and not give up; strive upward and draw strength in faith. Pēteris Vasks’ music always gives a sense of presence, it surrounds and is close to the listener. Nothing is distant and foreign in his compositions, there is so much humanity in them, “the concert organizers write.
As soon as the events with the presence of listeners are allowed, the most anticipated event of the festival “Pēteris Vasks Music April” will be planned – the premiere of Pēteris Vasks Violin Concerto “Evening Light”, the score is already in the hands of violinist Hugo Ticati for his music lovers in Latvia.
The live broadcast of Pēteris Vasks’ anniversary concert “Presence” will take place in strict compliance with the epidemiological regulations set by the country.
