The 2nd Bundesliga Season Sets Record Attendance Numbers and Away Driver Champions

On the last match day of the 2nd Bundesliga there were an average of almost 25,000 spectators in the stadiums. The stadiums were 95% full – a new season record. A total of around 33,000 guest fans were out and about.

Most spectators flocked to the Betzenberg in Kaiserslautern. At the end of the season, the Palatinate played in front of their second largest crowd of the season – the home area was sold out. The Red Devils break the mark of an average of 40,000 spectators in the 2nd Bundesliga for the first time in their history – Only eleven stadiums in Germany saw more spectators this season. The stadiums in Rostock, Magdeburg, Paderborn and Sandhausen were completely sold out. For SV Sandhausen, the last second division game for the time being was that Home game with the most spectators this season. The Kurpfälzer only had more than 10,000 spectators against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The home game of FC St. Pauli was also sold out for the season finale. With an average stadium occupancy rate of 99.5%, Hamburg has the best stadium occupancy rate in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Hamburger SV leads the game day in terms of away drivers. The Away Driver Champion of the 2nd Bundesliga was supported by around 9,000 fans in Sandhausen – the Hanseatic League’s third-best away driver this season. Only in Düsseldorf and Hanover were there more red trousers. In Germany, the Hamburgers land in 5th place. Karlsruhe, Braunschweig, Nuremberg, Darmstadt and Heidenheim also used the entire contingent of guests. 1.
