Vienna (OTS) – “That’s the way, aha, aha, I like it!” – when this refrain sounds, then it’s beach volleyball time in Austria. And Vienna is defending its reputation as the world capital of beach volleyball: after legendary tournaments on the Danube Island and last year’s European Championships on the Heumarkt, Hannes Jagerhofer and his team once again managed to put together a unique spectacle with the European volleyball association CEV: from 2. From August 7 to 7, 2022, the Red Bull Beach Arena in the heart of the Danube metropolis will be the venue for the A1 CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup.
CEV President Aleksandar Boričić, Vienna City Councilor for Finance Peter Hanke, A1 CEO Marcus Grausam, ÖVV President Gernot Leitner, organizer Hannes Jagerhofer and all Austrian athletes will be present at the kick-off press conference on August 1st in Vienna.
The format of the Beach Volley Nations Cup is new for both fans and players and promises excitement throughout the tournament. Eight nations with two teams each compete for the title of European Champion of Nations for the first time. For Austria, Robin Seidl and Philipp Waller as well as Martin Ermacora and Moritz Pristauz will start for the men, Katharina Schützenhofer and Lena Plesiutschnig as well as Dorina and Ronja Klinger for the women.
Pool A for the women consists of Switzerland, the Netherlands, Latvia and Spain. Austria’s teams were drawn in Pool B to Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic. In Pool A for the men, Norway with the Olympic champions, world and European champions Mol/Sörum meets Italy, Poland and Germany. In Pool B Austria will initially face the Czech Republic, the other duel will be played by the Netherlands and Estonia.
