That is why it is better to skip the PlayStation 5 for a while

Does it make sense to buy the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X at launch?

Many gamers are eagerly awaiting the release of the new Xbox and PlayStation consoles this year. Still, you may ask yourself whether it makes sense to buy a PlayStation 5 and / or Xbox Series X right at the launch in November. We list the arguments for waiting.

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have (almost) no exclusive games

The new consoles naturally include new games. Unfortunately, Halo Infinite has been delayed to 2021 and with that, no exclusive, major releases for Xbox Series X are expected at launch. This is different for PlayStation 5. We can expect “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales”, “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla”, “NBA 2K21” and “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War”, among others. However, these will all be available for PlayStation 4. The only exception is “Demon’s Souls”, which will only be released on PS5. Whether you want to buy a new console for 1 game is of course the question.

Games and consoles can contain teething problems

The first versions of a new model can often contain teething problems. We also saw this with the release of previous versions of the consoles. The games are also still in the initial phase. The deadline is often tight and the hardware has not yet been released. In addition, one has to work in secret and it is more difficult to test all the ins and outs.

Once the consoles are on the market, it is easier to design good / better games that make optimal use of all the possibilities of the consoles.

Can you enjoy the extras of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X?

Game enthusiasts will now undoubtedly argue that gaming will be a whole new experience with the 120 Hz refresh rate and 4K image quality. That is certainly true, but the question is whether you can enjoy it with your current monitor. If your TV or monitor does not support 4K resolution with this refresh rate, you will not be able to enjoy these new features. Incidentally, a 4K monitor cannot offer full support yet, because the high refresh rate is not supported by default. Only the most recent 4K monitors support 120 Hz. Of course, the solution is near by next to the console also one new gaming tv to purchase, but that makes the investment even greater.

Is the investment convenient?

Apart from the above arguments, it is a considerable investment (a small EUR 500 for the top models) to get the latest console, although there are some ways to get more cash left over.

What are you doing? Will the newest console be delivered to your home on the first day you can buy it, or will you wait a while?
