The easing of restrictions, which will take effect from August, allows for a significant increase in the number of visitors – admits the representatives of cultural institutions surveyed by Latvian Radio.
The possible number of spectators, of course, depends on the size of the hall. The National Opera, for example, in connection with the easing of restrictions, will be able to accommodate less than 500 spectators instead of the possible 200 spectators so far.
“In our case, modeling the hall, taking into account the new, reduced restrictions, allows us to increase the number of seats to 479, which is slightly less than half of the total capacity of the opera hall.
For spectators, this means that twice as many spectators can come to a show as before.
Before that, we had modeled these two meters, then we could seat only 200 spectators, ”said Sandis Voldiņš, a member of the board of the opera.
Anton Chekhov plays in the cultural space “Hanseatic Platform” on Friday ” Three sisters ” premiere under the direction of Vladislav Nastavshev, which will also be shown in August, and thanks to the easing of restrictions, it will then be able to watch almost twice as many viewers.
“We are able to offer a lot more people the opportunity to come to the show. If we used to have 150 seats, now we can provide 250 seats, which means that we can still land more people very freely, but a little more densely. This means that we can almost double the number of visitors, which is important both for the artists themselves on stage and financially. One meter of seats is a very, very good step forward, ”admitted the head of the cultural space Ieva Irbina.
The currently set distance of one meter also makes it possible for the concerts postponed from the spring planned for the “Hanseatic Platform” in the autumn, if the distance of 2 meters remained in force, these concerts could not take place, admitted Ieva Irbina.
Changes in the restrictions from September will allow spectators to open the New Riga Theater, which has been absolutely unprofitable due to the small halls.
Currently, the theater plans to fill both halls with one third of the total number of spectators, in the Great Hall they could be 100 seats, but in the Small Hall – 86 seats.
Throughout August, the New Riga Theater will continue to film the series “Agency”, which it has been working on since the beginning of June, but the performances could start in September, and as the theater representative Inga Liepina said – the September repertoire will be announced next week.
For all the missed performances, the theater has decided to return the money to the spectators, because it would be too difficult to show all 102 canceled performances and it would be disadvantageous for the spectators.
Inga Liepiņa: “We discussed and thought about how to do it better, but we realized that the number of places we will be able to offer for each show is too small, and people have still bought for a specific place, for a specific line, counted on a specific date. I think it will be much more human, ”said Liepiņa.
Already next week, the New Riga Theater will provide official information on how people will be able to get their money back.
