Munich – Plump breasts, firm buttocks, full lips – the pandemic is a big plus in the wallet for cosmetic surgeons.
According to the German Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (DGÄPC), cosmetic operations have increased by 9 percent (from 2019 to 2020), and minimally invasive treatments such as botox and hyaluronic acid injections by 14.1 percent.
Also with the Munich plastic surgeon Dr. med. Falk Z. Dagtkin (51), the beauty business is booming. “Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, I have had 15-20 percent more inquiries for treatments on my face. Interventions in the mask-free zones, which are particularly noticeable when wearing the mask, as well as lip interventions are in demand, as the swellings and plasters can be hidden well under the mask, “the specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery told BILD.
Dr. Helge Jens (56), board member of the DGÄPC, noticed a boom in treatments in the “mask-free zones”. “Oberlied ops have increased by 25 percent in my practice since Corona. Thanks to the online conferences, patients see themselves more in the “mirror”. Then there is the wearing of the mask, which directs the focus to the eye area, ”explains the specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery.
For buttocks operations, also known as Brazilian butt lifts, beauty fans particularly benefit from the home office. “With the Brazilian Butt Lift, patients cannot sit a few days after the operation, in the home office this is not a problem,” explains the specialist ISARTAL practice clinic (Nördliche Münchner Str. 23 in Grünwald). Butt lifts are THE trend, Dr. Dagtkin beautifies 50-70 pos a year.
