Thailand: – Fell from hotel on holiday island

A 19-year-old man from Canberra in Australia has been confirmed dead after a tragic fall from the 6th floor.

Wearing shorts, the 19-year-old was balancing on a fence by the hotel’s pool in Kathu, on the island of Phuket, when he suddenly thought wrong and fell down, writes the Australian newspaper Perth Now.

The land on the restaurant roof

The incident was captured by the hotel’s surveillance cameras. The accident took place on Wednesday 29 June around 5.50 pm local time.

According to the Bangkok Post newspaper, the 19-year-old landed on the roof of a restaurant.

The employees of the restaurant were getting ready for the dinner rush when they suddenly heard a loud bang on the ceiling above the kitchen.

Police say the Australian man and a friend had checked into the hotel the day before.

The death is being investigated further, the police say.

Will bring him home

On the website GoFundMe, a friend of the family has set up a krone roll to transport the teenager home to Australia.

He starts the text by condoling to the parents and the 19-year-old’s five siblings.

“Words cannot express our grief to the family… Unfortunately, there are extreme costs involved in bringing him home. This is a huge financial burden – in addition to the funeral costs. I am sure that the family would never ask for this type of help themselves, and that it will be appreciated by the parents in this sad time “, he writes on the website

Fell from the 11th floor

On Monday 16 May this year, a 22-year-old man from Australia died when he fell from the hotel’s 11th floor in the same area on the holiday island of Phuket.

The man was found on a footpath at the back of the Royal Paradise Hotel & Spa, outside his own window, he wrote Bangkok Post.

Police assumed that the 22-year-old’s fall was due to alcohol.

The man was on holiday with eleven other friends, and had lived at the hotel since 14 May. The plan was to return to Australia on 28 May.
