Thai Women Demonstrators Face Police Force Naked

Police Major General Piya Tavichai, deputy commissioner of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police Bureau, said the woman, identified as Worawan Sae Aung alias “Pa Pao” could face a fine of up to 5,000 baht if convicted.

Pa Pao will be charged under Article 388 of Thailand’s Criminal Code for undressing in public. The action was to protest the police force’s harsh handling of the protesters.

Tavichai said that nine protesters were arrested in the Nang Lerng area of ​​the capital, following clashes with riot police.

Clashes broke out as demonstrators tried to break through barbed wire barricades to approach the Government Building. They demanded the overthrow of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

Other demands of the “Talufah” group include the creation of a new constitution drafted by the people and reform of the monarchy.
