Bahrain Poses Biggest Challenge for Thailand in Futsal Asian championship Qualifier
NONTHABURI, Thailand – The Thai national futsal team faces a tough road to the 2026 Futsal asian Championship, with head coach Miguel Rodrigo identifying Bahrain as their most formidable opponent in the upcoming qualifier tournament, held September 20-24 at Nonthaburi Central stadium.
Thailand is grouped with Bahrain,South Korea, and Brunei in Group B of the competition. Rodrigo assessed each competitor, stating Bahrain’s playing style closely resembles that of Kuwait, making them a particularly dangerous team.
“Bahrain, they play in a style similar to Kuwait. Considered that this group is a team that we must be very careful. As it should be the strongest in the line,” Rodrigo said. “We have a coach of Brava Elfa Gaugeo. But there are also limitations on players resources as well… if meeting in the first game We may have to exert a lot. Probably not easy as he is strong.”
Rodrigo views Brunei as a developing team, noting their recent efforts under a Brazilian coach, but believes Thailand holds a significant advantage in skill. He also acknowledged South Korea’s physical strength and direct attacking style, but emphasized Thailand’s greater experience.
The Thai team’s schedule is as follows:
* Saturday, September 20, 2025, 7:30 PM: Thailand vs. Brunei
* Monday, September 22, 2025, 7:30 PM: Thailand vs. Bahrain
* Wednesday, September 24, 2025, 7:30 PM: Thailand vs. South Korea
