Alayna Matranga goodson, the founder and executive director of Three Little Pitties, emphasizes the critical role the organization plays. Matilda would have had a entirely different future if she were not here in these nurseries,
Goodson said. She added that without the rescue, she may have given birth at an overcrowded shelter, and her puppies may not have made it as of all of the germs that come along with that.
Houston’s stray animal problem is among the worst in the nation. The dangers faced by these animals are numerous, and the shelter system often struggles to cope.

Controlling Pet Population and Finding Forever homes
A key aspect of Three Little Pitties’ work is spaying the mother dogs after they give birth. This practice helps control the pet population and prevents further unwanted pregnancies. Matilda, such as, underwent the procedure after welcoming her litter.
There are too many puppies and not enough homes,
goodson explained. It’s gorgeous to see,but we’re excited for it to be her last litter and she will never have to do this again.
Once the puppies are born and their mothers are spayed, the organization focuses on finding them permanent homes. As opening six months ago, Three Little Pitties has successfully adopted out 150 dogs.
The Emotional Impact
The work of Three Little Pitties is deeply meaningful to those involved. goodson expressed her emotions, saying:
it is indeed emotional as I still have to see suffering on the streets because I live here. I still have to pass by situations that I cannot help, but at least I’m able to be a part of helping three families at a time.
