Testimony of the Father of a Firecracker Explosion Victim in Kebumen: Everything is lying, blood everywhere … page all

KOMPAS.com – Untung’s heartbreak (55) when he saw his son’s condition was lifeless due to a firecracker explosion in Ngabean Village, Ngirit District, Kebumen, Central Java.

He admitted that he could not recognize the face of his son, Muhammad Taufik Hidayat (27).

“It’s already lying. Not moving. Blood everywhere. Until I can not recognize my child’s face,” he said, Wednesday (12/5/2021).

He told himself that before the incident, he had reminded his son not to mix firecrackers.

This is because a number of villagers admit to protesting with the sound of firecrackers every Eid.

However, the victim turned out to be determined to mix firecrackers with six other residents at his house.

“At the time of the incident, I was not at home. I was behind the house,” said Untung.

Police explanation

From the temporary investigation by the police, three people were killed in the tragedy and five were injured.

Each of the dead victims was Muhammad Taufik Hidayat (27), Rizky (19) and Sugiyanto (23).

Then for injured victims are Bambang Priyono (29), Rio Dwi Pangestu (22), Alib (24), Irwan (25) and Ratna.

“The victims were immediately rushed to Prembun Hospital to get medical treatment,” said Chief of Kebumen Police, AKBP Piter Yanottama, in a written release received by Kompas.com, Wednesday (12/5/2021) night.

It is strongly suspected that the explosion occurred when the victims were making firecrackers. As a result, the walls and ceiling of Untung’s house were badly damaged.
