According to a confidential report from the Institute of Public Health, Sciensano and an opinion rendered by the Superior Health Council, these inhaled particles could have negative effects on health.
Since the start of the pandemic, Test Achats has asked the authorities to carry out the necessary checks to ensure the quality of the masks. Analyzes carried out by the consumer organization have indeed shown that many mouth masks do not comply with Belgian standards.
The organization also points out that many other masks contain (nano) silver particles such as the pacsafe masks available in particular from A.S. Adventure, DIM masks available in particular at Of, masks ThinkPink, some masks for sale on fruugo, etc.
“From the moment the government takes the decision to withdraw masks from the market due to the presence of silver nanoparticles and titanium dioxide, we seriously wonder why this decision should be limited to masks only. the Avrox brand, to the exclusion of other masks containing the same substances. We ask Minister Vandenbroucke for clear answers to this subject, as well as the adoption of strict standards on the substances that may be contained in masks sold in Belgium, accompanied by information for consumers on the composition, treatment and safety of the masks ” says Julie Frère, spokesperson for Test Achats. The organization also retains its request for systematic checks on the quality of masks on the Belgian market.
