Tessa (18) killed by teenagers in park

A teenager has been sentenced to at least 14 years in prison for the murder of Tessa Majors (18) in 2019. Majors were out for a walk in Morningside Park in Upper Manhattan, when she was stabbed and killed.

According to the prosecutor in the case, it was an attempt to take the woman’s Iphone that eventually ended in murder, after she resisted during the robbery. The now convicted killer was 14 years old when the incident took place. In court, he admitted to having taken the woman’s life, reports CNN.

– The family misses her every single second, every single day. They will do so for as long as they live, said Assistant Public Prosecutor Matthew Bogdanos when the trial took place.

Asked for an apology

The teenager, who is the third and last to be convicted of the murder of Majors, apologized in court to the 18-year-old’s parents.

– I never meant to hurt her and I would do anything to go back in time and prevent this from happening. Nothing I say or do can make up for the pain and damage I have inflicted on you, the teenager said.

In court, it was also revealed that the family believes the reason why Majors, who was a promising musician, resisted during the robbery, was that she had written down her own lyrics on her mobile phone.

– It contained three years of work, which was not stored anywhere else. Songs she had planned to record during the winter holidays, which were only a week away, were the family’s statement in connection with the trial.

In previous rounds of court, it has emerged that another person was also followed before the Majors, when the young people were to carry out the robbery. The person in question must have escaped without injuries.

Random victim

Another teenager, who was also 14 years old when the murder took place, has been sentenced to a minimum of nine years in prison in the same case. A third teenager has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for robbery. Both pleaded guilty when they appeared in court.

According to their previous explanations, the three young people went to the park with a plan to carry out a robbery. That Majors was chosen must have been completely coincidental.

In court, footage of video surveillance from the park where the murder took place was shown. There were gruesome details about the 18-year-old’s last minutes alive.

– Here she fights her way up the stairs, and has only minutes left to live. She still does not understand why she begins to feel dizzy and can not stand upright. She will come to this lamppost before collapsing and dying, facing a dirty street in New York, Bogdanos said during his proceedings this week.
