Tesla starts rollout of fully self-driving Autopilot

A small group of Tesla owners will get an automatic one later this week update, with which their cars can steer and accelerate better without human interaction. That makes the car completely self-driving, Tesla says. Hundreds of thousands of suitable Tesla cars should receive the update this year.

Tesla has been criticized by the industry for doubting whether the technology and the rest of the world are ready for so many self-driving cars. Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, writes Twitter that the rollout will be ‘extremely slow and careful’.

Earlier this week, it was announced that a group of dissatisfied Tesla drivers had a lawsuit against the car manufacturer. The owners experience many problems with their cars, such as the Autopilot function suddenly braking on the highway.
