Tesla is recalling approximately 1.1 million vehicles in the United States due to a safety issue with its automatic window reversing system.

The company reported the case to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Electric car maker claims 2017-2022 Model 3, 2020-2021 Model Y, 2021-2022 Model S, and Model X tow covers. According to Tesla, the auto window reversing system can sometimes miss obstacles while closing, increasing the risk of injury. .

NHTSA confirmed that the vehicles in question did not meet the requirements of the federal vehicle safety standard on power windows, adding that the error could lead to excessive force and pinch the driver or passenger before reversing.

He noted that under US law it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or dealer, to sell an item or vehicle that does not comply with federal vehicle safety standards.

Therefore, if any of these problems are detected, a recall should be issued.

Tesla says the problem with the window reversing system was discovered during product testing in August.

The automaker has indicated that it has no knowledge of any warranty claims, field reports, accidents, injuries or deaths related to the recall.

In the event of this recall, Tesla owners will not be required to bring their cars for any repairs as the company plans to address the issue with an over-the-air software update.

Tesla added that as of September 13, all of its production and pre-delivery vehicles have already received an update specifying the operation of the power windows in accordance with federal requirements.

Notification letters are expected to be sent to owners of recalled vehicles on November 15, 2022.
