Tesla recalls about 13,000 Model 3 cars in China

(XINHUA) – BEIJING, Nov. 27 – Electric car maker Tesla has begun recalling 12,863 Model 3 cars in China, citing potential safety risks from wearing seat belts.

The recall affects 2,736 imported cars manufactured between January 12, 2019 and November 22, 2019, and 10,127 cars manufactured in China between October 14, 2019 and September 26, 2022, according to a statement provided by Tesla to the National Market Regulatory Authority.

The statement indicated that the recalled cars are those whose center safety belt for the second row seat was improperly installed during aftermarket repair or maintenance.

It is suspected that when the service centers reinstalled the seat belts, they may not have installed some of the fastening parts of the belt clips with the anchor bolts, which could lead to the failure of the seat belt restraint role in the event of a collision.
