Tesla Model Y unexpectedly became Europe’s best-selling car for November

After a less than glamorous period, Tesla has once again risen to the top of car sales in Europe.

Tesla isn’t having the happiest of times right now. Customer interest and share price are dwindling, the automaker is trying to boost domestic sales by cutting prices, the grandiose talk about the sophistication of autonomous driving has fallen by the wayside, and Elon Musk spends most of his time on Twitter, which is also experiencing quite a difficult time after its purchase.

However, Tesla has now seen an interesting turn for the better in Europe. If in October the Model Y electric crossover didn’t even climb into the 50 best-selling cars on the old continent, in November, according to AutoEvolution colleagues, it completely dominated sales. A total of 19,144 units were to be sold, which meant a year-over-year growth of 260%.

Foreign peers rely on Dataforce stats, according to which the Model Y outsold the Dacia Sandero and Toyota Yaris, which sold 18,746 units and 17,309 units, respectively. However, despite its November success, it still doesn’t look like the Tesla Model Y will achieve a high position in overall sales for 2022.

In 11 months of the year, Tesla said it sold 105,283 units of the Model Y crossover, which represents a year-over-year improvement of 468.7%. However, the Tesla Model 3 is losing out and has sold 70,737 units so far. However, the sales premiums are higher than tens of thousands of units sold.

The main candidate for the position of sales bestseller for 2022 is the Peugeot 208, a small city car, which is expected to have around 193,743 units in the first 11 months of sales. Other best-selling cars include Dacia Sandero, Volkswagen Golf or Volkswagen T-Roc.
