Despite its modest exterior and many competitors, Tesla Model S Plaid is still one of the best accelerating cars in the world. The only faster car we know is exotic and inaccessible Rimac Fridge. Meanwhile, Tesla has just proven its dominance to other rivals on two and four wheels.
A family car with such exorbitant performance is as meaningless from a rational point of view as the very idea of a quarter mile race. It is a competition that consists only in accelerating in a straight line over a distance of just over 400 m. Probably that is why the Americans love it.
Indeed, the Tesla Model S Plaid does it downright amazing. The record driving time of a quarter of a mile with this unique car is just 9.081 seconds. When crossing the flying finish, Tesla reaches a speed of almost 250 km / h.
This was achieved under perfect conditions, on the extremely grippy professional drag racing track, but the Model S Plaid’s “early nines” are not uncommon. Theoretically, all these vehicles have a good chance of competing with Tesla. In fact, the Model S Plaid “destroys” them in duels just as easily as all opponents before. Mainly because the family electric missile accelerates in a very repetitive way. It does this regardless of the prevailing conditions and does not require special skills from the driver. Maybe except for a firm grip on the steering wheel.
Let’s start with motorcycles. One can argue with the choice of motorcycles by journalists from the portal Edmundswho recorded the video below. There would probably be even faster two-wheelers on the market (eg Ducati Panigale V4 or Aprilia Tuono V4), but the differences in acceleration between them are minimal.

The motorcyclist could not believe that he had been beaten several times in a row by an electric sedan. In order to defend it, it should be added that perhaps it would have had a slightly better chance if it was completely windless weather.
Another duel was organized by the well-known portal DragTimes. He pitched one of the sharpest supercars against Tesla. McLaren 765LT with o power in excess of 850 KM (this is what the test on the dyno showed) earlier achieved not much worse times than Tesla (9,39 s).
Unfortunately, the conditions were unfavorable for the internal combustion car that day. It was hot weather and high humidity, and such air always worsens the performance of turbocharged engines that need a lot of cool air.
Two or four wheels? Tesla does not care
Tesla Model S Plaid and its three electric motors with a total power of 1020 HP were not bothered by anything at all. Therefore, in the competition on the track, she crushed the British supercar as effectively as another copy of this model dealt with superbikes.
What can be written to comfort fans of classic motoring? Both the McLaren 765LT driver and the motorbike rider had more fun than the Tesla chauffeur. In addition, the British supercar looks amazing in the color of lime, and superbikes are many times cheaper than any fast car.
This does not change the fact that the Tesla Model S Plaid has recently become the favorite toy of the Americans. He wins against any opponent and without any effort. In addition, then you can go with the whole family for burgers.
Tesla Model S Plaid can also be purchased on the Polish market. Or rather, order through the manufacturer’s website and wait at least three quarters for the pickup of the costumer 570 thousand zloty car. That’s a lot less than a McLaren worth at least 1.8 million PLN, but much more expensive than the Suzuki Hayabusa, which you can buy for 85 thousand zloty.
