Terrorism. After the attacks, the 27 want to strengthen the EU’s external borders

The interior ministers of the 27 EU countries called for “strengthening” the security of the Schengen area of free movement and the external borders of the European Union, in a joint declaration adopted on Friday following the attacks in France and Austria.

“To fight against this barbaric terror in a comprehensive way”

They also said they were determined to bring about “before the end of the year” negotiations currently underway for European legislation aimed at removing “terrorist content” online within the hour.

Five years after the jihadist attacks of November 13, 2015, the ministers paid tribute to the 130 people killed in Paris and Saint-Denis and condemned “in the strongest terms” the recent attacks in particular in France and Austria.

“We reaffirm our determination to do everything in our power to fight this barbaric terror in a comprehensive manner, with all the tools at our disposal,” the ministers underlined in their statement.
