Barcelona continues negotiations with goalkeeper Mark-Andre ter Stegen on a new contract.
This week, the Catalan club discussed with the goalkeeper’s agent the conditions of a potential deal, however, the parties still have serious disagreements on the financial issue.
The German wants to earn twice as much as he is getting now. We are talking about a salary of about 10 million euros per year plus bonuses. They are interested in other top clubs.
In early March, Barca suggested a player’s contract until 2024 with a salary of 6.5 million euros per season plus bonuses, but the player refused, since players who enter the field less often than him received a better offer in previous years to extend the contract.
Then the goalkeeper was offered a contract until 2025 with the option of extending for another three seasons. However, according to Diario Sport, these conditions may not suit the football player.
Barça firmly believes that the contract with ter Stegen needs to be extended, but the economic side of the deal is the stumbling block.
Negotiations with the 27-year-old goalkeeper are not easy, despite the fact that he himself would prefer not to leave the Camp Nou.
The sports department of Barcelona expects to come to an agreement by June. If this does not happen, the president of the blue-garnet Josep Bartomeu can personally engage in negotiations, and this can move the process off the ground.
