Tensions Iran – USA: The European Union “stresses” to Iran “the need for de-escalation” and invites its Minister for Foreign Affairs

the death of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in an American attack on Baghdad.

During this discussion “with Mohammad Javad Zarif on recent developments”, Josep Borrell stressed “the need to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation,” according to a tweet posted on his Twitter account.

“I am committed to playing the role of coordinator,” added the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Policy in his tweet. This Sunday, he indicated that he invited to BrusselsMohammad Javad Zarif.

Josep Borrell announced the invitation, without giving a specific date, in a statement detailing the phone interview he had this weekend with Mohammad Javad Zarif.
