Tender for section 1 of the Mayan Train published

The National Tourism Promotion Fund (Fonatur) published the first of the tenders for Section 1 of the Mayan Train, the ‘flag’ infrastructure project of the Andrés Manuel López Obrador administration.

The international competition for the Palenque-Escárcega section includes the elaboration of the executive project, the supply of materials and the construction of the platform, as well as the track between both stations of the railway project.

For this first tender, the federal government will have budgetary resources equivalent to 4,969 million 920 thousand pesos, according to the document published by the Fonatur.

Companies interested in participating may be national and international, and will also be allowed to participate in consortium, provided that, with respect to foreign firms, “their country of origin grants reciprocal treatment to bidders of Mexican nationality.”

The registration of participants for the first of five sections of the Mayan Train – which will extend for 1,450 kilometers in the southeast of the country – will take place between Monday and Tuesday, February 11.

On the 17th of this month there will be a visit to the site with those interested in participating in the open tender, while a month later the proposals will be presented, to give a final ruling on April 23.
