In a serious traffic accident in Houthalen-Helchteren on Tuesday afternoon, a girl of ten years was fatally injured. Around 3.45 pm the girl was hit by a truck on the bicycle on the Grote Baan near the Herebaan-Oost.

The emergency services transferred the girl to hospital in a critical condition. The public prosecutor of Limburg decided to send a traffic expert to investigate the circumstances of the collision. In the direction of Hasselt, the police of the CARMA zone temporarily closed one lane, causing traffic disruption for some time.
