Manchester –
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag refused pressure to strip the captain’s armband Bruno Fernandes. According to Ten Hag, it’s normal for Fernandes to make mistakes.
Bruno Fernandes was highlighted sharply when MU was beaten by Liverpool 0-7 last weekend. The top Portuguese midfielder was considered unfit to become the captain of the Red Devils because he showed a bad attitude throughout the match.
Even so, Ten Hag still believes in Bruno Fernandes to lead MU against Real Betis in the first leg of the last 16 of the Europa League last night. Fernandes also paid for it with a brilliant appearance.
The 28-year-old footballer contributed one goal and one assist to help Manchester United win 4-1. The former Sporting Lisbon star also created five key passes by creating two golden opportunities.
Bruno Fernandes has increasingly asserted himself as one of MU’s most important players since joining in the winter of 2020. This season Fernandes has scored eight goals and 12 assists in 41 appearances.
Fernandes’ contribution helped to lead MU to win the League Cup trophy, finish in the top three Premier League, reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, and are on the verge of qualifying for the last eight of the Europa League after the victory over Betis. There’s no reason to Erik ten Hag to dethrone Bruno Fernandes as one of the captains of Man United.
“Yes, definitely,” replied Ten Hag when asked if Bruno Fernandes still one of the captains of MU. “I think he is playing a brilliant season. He played an important role in getting us to where we are now.”
“He gives energy to the team, runs a lot with intensity, in the right way. He appoints and trains the players, he is an inspiration for the whole team,” he continued. 90min.
“Nobody’s perfect anyway, everyone makes mistakes. I’m very happy to have Bruno Fernandes in my team and I’m happy with him as our captain with Harry not on the pitch.” Erik ten Hag.
