Freiburg / Cologne (dpa) – Comedian Hazel Brugger (27) thinks the people where she lives in Cologne are funnier than those in her Swiss homeland. “No question,” she told the “Badische Zeitung” (Thursday) from Freiburg. “People in Zurich can be funny too, but they are more likely to bring a smile out of you than a hearty laugh.” If she had stayed in Switzerland, she would probably never have become famous, said Brugger. She is known from the “heute-show” on ZDF and won the German Comedy Award for best comedian in October.

She is now pregnant. Such an announcement automatically makes you more human, said Brugger. “Many people might not have realized that I also have a life beyond the stage or television. A life in which you can just get pregnant or in future have to wipe baby bottoms clean.” She did not reveal an expected due date. “But let’s put it this way: I am now in the phase in which I am looking forward to not being pregnant again.”
