TCL no longer builds devices

The changeable history of BlackBerry has surely stayed in the back of many of our technically interested readers. Many years ago, BlackBerry developed the hardware and operating system itself and sold it, including the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, as a comprehensive and secure communication solution. Somehow you missed the jump on the touchscreen and that was somehow the beginning of the end. The BlackBerry solutions with Android have been distributed under license since 2016, for which the Chinese company TCL is responsible.

Huge company, which has its fingers in almost all technical matters – among other things, smartphones have already been manufactured for Vodafone, Alcatel devices have been launched, is now so far that you approach the audience confidently with the TCL brand, BlackBerry is now announcing via the short message service Twitter that from August 31st TCL will no longer sell smartphones, but support for existing devices will continue until 2022. Probably the end of BlackBerry as a smartphone brand is also likely, unless you want to squeeze a few euros out of the name. At TCL you can guess how it will go on: They continue to build their own brand.
