Response from the institution to the allegations that TCDD will be sold was not delayed.
TCDD, which is claimed to hand over passenger transportation to the private sector, used the following statements in its statement that it denied the allegations;
* There was a need to make public disclosures regarding UNRIGHT NEWS published in some written and internet media under the heading “SELLING TCDD”.
* As is known, came into force on May 1, 2013 “Turkey, No. 6461 Law on the Liberalization of Railway Transport” was performed with the liberalization of the railway sector.
* Thus, as in the airline sector, the railway sector was actually liberalized in 2017, and it was aimed that the private sector railway enterprises, as well as the TCDD, would operate competitively under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
* With the enactment of the railway liberalization law numbered 6461, 2 private sector train operators other than TCDD have also started their freight transportation activities by obtaining their freight transportation authorization. Authorization procedures for private sector train operations continue for passenger transportation.
* On the lines where passenger transportation by rail is not possible, transportation is carried out by contract as “Public Service Obligation”. The public service obligation of TCDD Tasimacilik AS, which still carries out this service, will end at the end of this year, and the service will be carried out by the railway train operator, which has been awarded by the tender procedure by 2021.
* Our investments in the railway infrastructure are continuing in order to provide quality, safe and economical railway operations in our country. In addition to infrastructure investments, our investments for the provision of High Speed Train sets, Electric and Diesel sets are also continuing in order to continue rail transport services by TCDD.
* There is no such thing as terminating passenger and cargo transportation activities within TCDD or privatization of TCDD. It is announced to the public with respect.
