“You don’t have to like my songs, but it’s really ridiculous to portray my writing in a bad light,” Taylor Swift wrote on Twitter Monday in response to Albarn’s comments.

In an interview in The Los Angeles Times, the 53-year-old singer of British band Blur claimed that the All too wellsinger wouldn’t write her own music. “Copying a song doesn’t count,” he claimed. “I know what co-writing is. That is very different from writing. I’m not blaming anyone, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes. That doesn’t mean the result can’t be really great.”

The 32-year-old singer responded on Twitter: “I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write all my own songs. Your comment is completely inaccurate and terribly harmful.”

“You don’t have to like my songs, but it’s really ridiculous to portray my writing in a bad light. PS: I wrote this tweet all by myself, in case you’re wondering,” she ends her message to Albarn.

Albarn apologized under the message and dismissed the written statements in the interview as clickbait. “I apologize in full and in all respects. The last thing I would want is to question your authorship. I hope you understand it.” he added.

Presidential Response

Swift even received acclaim with a presidential edge: Gabriel Boric, president of Chile and a big fan of Taylor Swift, commented below the message. “Here in Chile you have a large group of fans who know that you write your own songs from your heart. Don’t take men who have to insult and lie to get attention seriously. Hugs from the south.”
