Task Force: 1,974 Papuans Treated Due to Covid-19

Merdeka.com – The Papua Covid-19 Prevention and Handling Task Force acknowledged that currently positive cases of the Corona virus have increased. So that the number of residents treated is almost 2,000 people, or to be precise 1,974 people.

“It is true that currently there is an increase in the number of positive cases of Covid-19, so that people are expected to comply with health protocols, especially when leaving the house by implementing 3 M,” said SGPP Covid-19 Papua spokesman, dr. Silwanus Sumule in Jayapura, Sunday (7/2).

He revealed, the cumulative number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 in Papua was recorded at 16,302 people and of these 14,023 people or 86 percent recovered.

Meanwhile, the positive ones also increased and recorded 305 people or 1.9 percent. Although the number of positive residents has increased, the cure rate is still above 75 percent.

“The high rate of cure for Covid-19 patients is due to the fact that most of them fall into the category of people without symptoms (OTG),” Sumule said as quoted by Antara.

Meanwhile, SGPP Covid-19 Merauke spokesman, dr. Neville Maskita admitted that the increase in positive cases in Indonesia’s eastern districts was due to local spread or transmission.

“Currently, out of 591 positive people, 174 people were treated and 28 people died due to Covid-19,” he concluded [fik]
