The purchase of the tapestry was made possible in part with the support of Tourism Flanders. “The Oudenaard tapestries are a strong example of extraordinary Flemish craftsmanship,” says Flemish Tourism Minister Zuhal Demir (N-VA). “The Flemish tapestry industry was internationally renowned for centuries and had sales all over the world.”
The MOU currently owns 37 tapestries, 15 of which are on display in the cloth hall. The intention is to further expand the collection.
