Dr. Muhammad Awad Tajuddin, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Preventive Affairs, denied the validity of an audio message circulating on social media sites related to “WhatsApp” that included advice not to get a vaccine against seasonal influenza.

The advisor to the President of the Republic said in exclusive statements today, Saturday, that “this message circulated is absolutely incorrect, and by way of what we call electronic flies.”

Tajuddin explained that the audio clip contained false information and raised the concern of citizens, indicating the importance of obtaining a vaccine against seasonal influenza, especially this year in light of the spread of the new Corona virus, “Covid 19”.

The Ministry of Health and Population had started supplying seasonal influenza vaccine at the headquarters of the Holding Association for Biological Preparations and Vaccines “Fecsira” in Agouza and its branches in the governorates.

The vaccine available is a quadruple vaccine and given to people aged 3 years and over 170 pounds.

Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Fattah, head of the Central Administration for Preventive Affairs at the Ministry of Health, said that most respiratory diseases in the winter season are caused by influenza that reduces immunity and allows any virus to enter the body.

In televised statements, he indicated the need for different groups to receive the vaccine in the first place: those exposed to gatherings and those who suffer from the brunt of respiratory diseases, including doctors, pregnant women and people with respiratory diseases, as well as those who tried to take the vaccine and became sensitive to it, and those who suffer from Allergy to eggs and suffer from quadriplegic syndrome.

He explained that the most appropriate time to receive the vaccine is before the start of the winter season, noting that whoever receives the vaccine will have immunity after two weeks.

In turn, Dr. Ashraf Oqba, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Immunology at Ain Shams University, said that the vaccine completely protects against influenza infection and is not harmful to patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, stress and chronic diseases. C virus.

In statements to “Masrawy,” Oqba explained that the vaccine is harmful to people with diseases more prone to bleeding, such as leukemia patients, or those with “egg allergy”, warning against giving the vaccine to children under the age of two years.
