Taiwanese People Ask To Eat More Pineapples


TAIPEI – President Taiwan Tsai Ing-wen asked his people to eat more pineapple to help the farmers.

He said Taiwan had been “ambushed” by a pineapple ban China .

China says in March it will stop importing pineapples from Taiwan. Beijing says there are “dangerous creatures” that can come with Taiwan pineapple, threatening Chinese agriculture.

The move sparked criticism from Taiwan’s ruling party. Tsai said in a Facebook post that Taiwan’s agricultural exports meet international standards.

China sends notifications such as the ambush, unilaterally suspending imports of Taiwanese pineapples. This is definitely not a normal trading decision, “Tsai said without further explanation.
