The Allegations and Investigation

The Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office directed the Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Justice to summon four individuals, including Huang lu Jinru; Chu Wenqing, secretary-general of the KMT’s Taipei City Party Committee; Yao Fuwen; and Zeng Fanchuan, executive director of the First District Party Committee.Authorities also searched the KMT Taipei City Party Committee and other related departments.

Prosecutors allege that these individuals were involved in forging documents and other crimes, suspecting collusion and potential destruction of evidence. The prosecution requested detention and a ban on visitations for the four individuals.

The Protest and Police Response

In response to the investigation,KMT Chairman Zhu Lilun,along with party representative and spokesman Yang Zhiyi,and supporters,gathered outside the Beijing procuratorate. The protest extended into the early hours of the morning.

According to the Zhongzheng 1 Branch of the Taipei Police Bureau, Zhu Lilun, Yang Zhiyi, and KMT legislator Xie Longjie allegedly led an “illegal rally” at the Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office. The police stated that they repeatedly issued warnings and orders to disband, citing the Rally and Parade Law, but these orders were ignored. The case has been reported to the Beijing Procuratorate for further investigation,and the individuals involved will be notified.

Police Restraint and Legal Considerations

Despite deeming the rally illegal, the Zhongzheng 1 Branch emphasized thier restraint in handling the situation. Citing the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Rally and March Law, the police noted that no violent acts occurred, such as attacks on officers. Therefore, they avoided forceful dispersal to prevent escalating the situation.

The Zhongzheng 1 Branch reiterated that the area surrounding the North Procuratorate is a restricted zone for gatherings and marches, where such activities are prohibited by law. The police urged groups and individuals to comply with the law, express their demands “rationally and peacefully,” and avoid disrupting social order.They warned that any violent incidents would be met with strict enforcement of the law to maintain order and uphold the dignity of the legal system.
