WASHINGTON – Former President Donald Trump adopted a markedly different tone when questioned about his perceived lack of pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine, responding with a curt dismissal described as “Kiebig” by observers. Trump stated he intends to speak with Putin again “in the next few days” and will “then know exactly what is happening” regarding the conflict.
this exchange comes as Trump continues to position himself as a potential mediator in the Ukraine war,despite limited demonstrable progress since a meeting with Putin last month. He previously asserted Putin would understand his proposed path to a ceasefire “within two minutes.” The shift in Trump’s demeanor when challenged on his approach highlights the complexities surrounding any potential involvement in resolving the ongoing crisis.
Trump had previously threatened tariffs of around 100 percent against countries trading with Russia,but ultimately did not impose them on nations like China,the United Arab Emirates,or Saudi Arabia. The United States has recently implemented additional tariffs of 25 percent on Indian products due to their oil transactions with Russia.
“I will speak to him in the next few days and then know exactly what is happening,” Trump said,according to reports from the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA) and JMI. The former president’s previous claim of a swift resolution following his Alaska meeting with Putin has not materialized.
