AMD Ryzen Strix Point and Halo Processors Leak: Specs for Zen 5 APUs Revealed
HKEPC reports that a 144-page document containing specifications for the Ryzen Strix Point and Strix Halo processors has been leaked. AMD has yet to reveal details about the next-generation Zen 5 APUs, but thanks to the leak, a lot of interesting things have emerged.
The Strix Point (STX) 12 Zen comes with 5 cores and 24 threads, and also features 12 MB L2 cache and 24 MB L3 cache. This APU will have 8 WGPs based on the RDNA3.5 architecture, which corresponds to 16 computing units. XDNA2 AI-Accelerator offers 50 TOPS, which is more than three times faster than Hawk Point. The APU will support DisplayPort 2.1 specifications, even in UHBR10 transfer mode. Strix Point is expected to have a TDP of 45-65W and will use an FP8 socket.
According to the document, Strix Halo (STX Halo) will be a 16-core and 32-thread product. Like the STX, this model also gets 1MB per core, which means 16MB of L2 cache and 32MB of L3 cache. In addition, the Strix Halo will also include a 32MB MALL Cache, which will work in the same way as the Infinity Cache. The APU will support the XDNA2 processor developed for artificial intelligence, which provides up to 60 TOPS. It also supports DisplayPort 2.1 up to UHBR20 mode, and we can expect a 70-130 W output that uses the FP11 socket. Judging from the slide, the Halo supports 256-bit LPDDR5X-8000 memory, while the Point supports up to LPDDR5x-7500 memory.
AMD is already preparing for Computex, where the desktop and mobile Zen 5 series can be discussed, so hopefully we will learn more about the Ryzen 9000, i.e. the Strix series, at the latest .

UK Introduces New Tax Aid for Film, Television, and Video Game Producers in 2024
The United Kingdom introduces new tax aid for national producers of film, television content and video games at the beginning of 2024, as announced by the British Ministry of the Economy.
Starting January 1, these types of productions will receive greater tax credits, as well as “greater flexibility in production decisions and more transparency about the amount they can receive from credit companies.”
With the new rule, children’s content and television animation, as well as films with more than one million pounds (approximately 1.15 million euros) in expenses, will receive an additional 42,500 pounds (about 48,800 euros) in tax benefits.

For their part, the rest of television, film or video game productions will obtain additional tax benefits of 5,000 pounds (about 5,700 euros).
Although the new measure comes into force this January 1, in order to facilitate the adaptation to productions whose development extends until April 1, 2025, they will be able to benefit from the previous tax system until April 1, 2027.
According to the Secretary of Finance, Nigel Huddleston, the Executive hopes that this aid will support the “creators of the future ‘Barbie’, ‘Happy Valley’ or ‘Grand Theft Auto’”.
“The UK is a world leader in creativity and we want to ensure this continues to be the case in the future by making it easier for British films, TV content and video games to succeed,” he said.

Kingston DDR5 Renegade Fury Memory Sticks: New 64GB Module Supported on Gigabyte, Intel and AMD Motherboards
The DDR5 platform initially supported 8/16/32 GB memory modules, but later non-binary 24 GB and 48 GB memory were also supported.
Kingston recently released the first Renegade Fury memory sticks with 64GB of memory per module. For motherboards made with four DDR5 DIMM slots, this can mean up to 256 GB of memory instead of the previous 4×48 GB, i.e. 192 GB, configuration. In addition, if two DIMM modules are used, the memory capacity jumps from 96 GB to 128 GB.
Gigabyte has confirmed that the Intel 600/700 and AMD 600 series will support this new memory capacity. The company did not specify exactly for which motherboards the necessary BIOS update will be available, but it will certainly not be just one or two models.
The company demonstrated support for the memory in question on the Intel i9-14900K and Z790 AORUS Master X and Ryzen 9 7900X3D and B650 AORUS Elite AX ICE configurations. In both cases, memory with a speed of 6000 MT/s was used.
Previously, both MSI and ASRock confirmed that they had started developing updates to support 64GB modules, but neither company revealed the list of motherboards. We can expect a wider spread of 64 GB modules at the beginning of 2024, when several memory manufacturers will come up with their new products.
