Within the framework of developing relations between the two peoples, the US State Department said that more than 20,000 Egyptians have participated in US government exchange programs, and 450 Egyptians travel to the US annually in professional and academic exchange programs facilitated by the US Embassy in Cairo.

Turning to addressing the climate crisis, the United States welcomed Egypt’s continued leadership through the COP27 presidency to accelerate global ambition and action to address the climate crisis.

The US State Department added that the United States and Egypt support strengthening the “Global Pledge on Methane” and the “New Energy Path”, which Egypt joined to address methane leakage from the oil and gas sector.

The United States and Egypt co-lead the new Partnership on Adaptation in Africa that focuses on concrete initiatives to help build resilience in a changing climate.

The United States is providing $10 million to support the launch of the Cairo Center for Learning and Excellence in Adaptation and Resilience, which will build resilience across Africa. At COP27, the United States and Germany announced the allocation of more than $250 million to accelerate the pace of Egypt’s energy transition by supporting the deployment of 10 gigawatts of wind and solar projects with the shutdown of 5 gigawatts of inefficient natural gas generation.

Harding to King Ahmed Fouad, and over the past century, this deep partnership has proven its flexibility in the face of changing circumstances as Egypt seeks to build a stable and prosperous future that advances rights and fundamental freedoms for all citizens.
