Team Nigeria Dominates All โคAfrican Para โBadminton โฃChampionships wiht 36 Medals
Umuahia, Abia State – Theโ All African โPara Badminton Championships concluded in Umuahia, Nigeria, on Sunday, with Team Nigeria achieving a resounding victory, securing โa total ofโ 36โ medals. Theโฃ Nigerian team led the medal count with 10โ gold, 13 โsilver, โฃand 13 bronze medals.
This accomplished โhosting and performance underscoresโฃ Nigeria’s โฃgrowingโ prominence in โpara-sports and its commitment tooโข inclusivity in โathletics. The championships, wich drewโ athletes โfrom across the continent, serve as a crucial qualifying event for future international โcompetitions,โค including the Paralympicโข Games. Kenya finished second overall with โค11 medals (4 โgold, 2 silver, andโ 5 bronze), while Egypt โsecured thirdโ placeโฃ with โข3 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze. โParticipating nations also includedโ Benin โRepublic, Cameroon, Mauritius, Mozambique, Tanzania,โ Rwanda,โค DR Congo, and Burkina โFaso.
Abia State Governor Alex otti, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Sirโ Nwaobilorโ Ananaba, lauded the event as a “festivity of resilience and โขunity.” He expressed gratitude to the participatingโ countries and the Badminton World Federation and Badminton Confederation of Africa for their support,โ adding that his administration is open to hosting the championships againโค next year.
