Indonesian U-20 National Team won over Syria in the second match of the group phase 2023 U-20 Asian Cup at the Lokomotiv Stadium, Tashkent, Saturday (4/3) evening.
Syria and Indonesia both played aggressively in the early minutes. The game was running quite fierce because of the ball-fighting in the middle.
The match had only been running for 13 minutes, Hugo Samir came on to replace Ferdiansyah, who had previously looked in pain after colliding with an opponent.
Indonesia’s first chance came from Dzaky Asraf in the 23rd minute, starting from a through ball to Ronaldo Kwateh who moved down the left wing. Dzaky, who had the opportunity to enter the penalty box, hit the ball on the left side of the Syrian net.
The duels between the Syrian and Indonesian players took place fiercely until the referee gave several warnings.
Starting from a counterattack, Hokky was able to control the ball in the opponent’s playing area. The PSS Sleman player was then able to dribble into the area in front of the goal. Hokky’s left-footed kick made the ball lodge in the Syrian goal in the 35th minute.
Syria tried to equalize in the final minutes of the first half, but Daffa Fasya’s header thwarted Mahmood Alaswad’s effort.
Former Southampton coach Mark Wotte’s men started the second half by attacking. The U-20 Indonesian national team can still anticipate well.
Syria had a chance in the 54th minute through Mahmoud Nayef. The ball that Daffa couldn’t reach still hit the goalpost.
The Syrian attack made it difficult for the U-20 Indonesian National Team to develop their game. Nevertheless, there was an attempt to attack in the middle of the second half which made the Syrian defense sluggish through Hokky, Arkhan Fikri, Ronaldo and Hugo.
Achmad Maulana Syarif’s shot from outside the penalty box was still caught by Maksim Sarraf.
In the last 10 minutes, Syria again tried to intensify the attack. Indonesia’s defense has been tested. The save was made by Daffa Fasya to prevent Zakaria Alramadan from leaking the ball in front of the goal.
Syria continued to attack and opportunities arose several times, but Indonesia also had a chance through Hugo Samir. The ball kicked by Hugo still narrowly missed the Syrian goal.
Daffa Fasya again made a neat save in the final seconds of the match by brushing aside Syria’s chances from close range.
The 1-0 score lasted until the fight broke up. Indonesia won its first victory in the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup.
