Kayla Nicole appeared to reference her past relationship with Travis Kelce and his current romance with Taylor Swift in a Halloween costume posted to Instagram on october 31. The model and sports journalist dressed as Toni Braxton, recreating the singer’s look from the music video for “He Wasn’t Man Enough For Me.”
Nicole’s costume included the iconic, slinky dress from the video and featured a clip of Braxton singing the lyrics, “What are you thinkin’? (Oh-oh, yeah)/Did you know about us back then? (Did you know?)/Do you know I dumped your husband (Ooh-wee), girlfriend? (Girlfriend).” The choice sparked speculation that it was a response to perceived disses toward Nicole on Swift’s new album, *The Life Of A Showgirl*.
The speculation stems from the track ”Opalite,” where Swift sings, “You were in it for real/She was in her phone/And you were just a pose.” Fans believe this references a video of Kelce asking Nicole to “get off the phone” during their relationship, and rumors that Nicole leveraged the relationship for social media gain.
Nicole recently discussed the online harassment she’s received since Swift and Kelce began dating. On her podcast, *The Pre-Game*, she revealed she is “terrified” to check her comments and DMs, stating, “As someone who obsesses over the fact that I, on a daily basis, am terrified of my comments, terrified of my DMs…I don’t want to be triggered.I don’t want to care, I don’t want to look.”
Braxton herself commented on Nicole’s post, writing, “You killed it, mama! [orange heart emoji].” Nicole captioned the post, ”She’s an icon… She’s a legend…She’s @tonibraxton circa 2000. #Halloween25.”
