A luxury yacht that sank off the coast of Sicily has been identified as a nearly 56-meter-long superyacht that goes by the name Bayesian.

According to Superyachttimes, the vessel was built by the Italian shipping company Perini Navi in 2008, and the interior of the vessel was designed by the French designer responsible for the interior of several luxury yachts Remi Tessier.

Formerly known as Salute, the ship has an 11.5 meter wide aluminum hull and previously held the record for the tallest aluminum mast in the world. According to the experts interviewed by the British newspaper Telegraph, the mast rising to a wild height of 75 meters could also have been part of the reason for the sinking of the ship.

According to the Telegraph, on the morning of the sinking, wind gusts blowing at a speed of nearly 65 kilometers per hour were measured at Palermo airport, which is located near the sinking site.

The current record for the world’s longest mast is held by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos’ yacht Koru.

Bayesian is the 677th largest yacht in the world. Among the yachts built by the shipping company Perini Navi, it is the 17th largest. The ship’s top speed is approximately 15.5 knots, i.e. slightly less than 30 kilometers per hour.

Several media have reported that the vessel was registered to the Revtom Limited company operating on the Mansaari. The sole shareholder of the company has been marked as the technology industry entrepreneur who is still missing by Mike Lynch wife Angela Bacares.

Bacares is among those already rescued from the accident.

The independent presidential candidate of the United States, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., told about a strange situation that happened 10 years ago in a video he published on the messaging service X on Sunday.

He said he was driving to New York’s Hudson River Valley when he noticed another driver run over a young bear. He decided to put the dead bear cub in his car.

– I stopped and picked up the bear and put it in the back of my van because I was going to skin the bear. It was in very good condition and I was going to put the meat in my fridge, he explained in the video to actress Roseanne Barr.

Later, he drove back to town for dinner with the bear in tow. The dinner ran late and Kennedy had to go straight to the airport. Naturally, he couldn’t take the bear with him. He said he pitched the idea to his friends to take the bear to New York’s Central Park and make it look like a bicyclist had hit it.

– Everyone thought it was a great idea. So we did and thought it would be amusing to whoever found it.

As Kennedy explained this strange situation, others around him laughed, including Barr.

“On the front page of every magazine”

According to Kennedy, the next day the bear in question appeared on the front page of every newspaper, and official investigations were launched. Kennedy said he was worried at the time because he had left fingerprints.

– Fortunately, the matter subsided after some time. Now the New Yorker somehow found out about it and they are going to do a big article about me, Kennedy said.

Kennedy thinks that the New Yorker is doing the story in a negative light and that’s why he decided to tell the story publicly.

Among other things, CNN says in its story that in 2014 there was news about a similar matter. At that time, a dead bear was found in the middle of the central park.

You can watch the video published by Kennedy in the embed below.

– I’m looking forward to how the New Yorker will translate this story, he writes in X.

On Saturday evening, the police had an attention-grabbing chase on Kolmostie.

Itä-Uusimaa police were informed, at around 21:45, that the pursuit had ended with the arrest of the target person. The police did not specify how and where the stop took place.

According to eyewitness observations received by Iltalehti, a black passenger car was chased by numerous police cars in the north direction.

According to the Itä-Uusimaa police, the chase is not related to Saturday night’s police operation in Vantaa’s Koivuhaa.

This is how the situation progressed

The command center of the Helsinki Police Department said that the chase started in East Helsinki, continued to Klaukkala and then back towards Helsinki. Finally, the fleeing car on Kolmostie was stopped. The fleeing vehicle collided with two police vehicles while stopped.

– There was minor damage to two cars. Fortunately, the cars on the side were not hit, the control center said.

The command center confirms that the driver is suspected of at least grossly endangering traffic safety. In addition, other issues are clarified, such as car ownership.

The Estonian government has decided to tighten measures on the eastern border. Prime Minister Kristen Michal said that full control of goods will be implemented on the eastern border from August 8. The matter concerns the border stations of Narva, Koidula and Luhamaa. The Estonian public radio company ERR and the Moscow Times report on the matter.

Michal emphasized that Estonia must do everything to prevent illegal goods from being transported through Estonia to Russia.

– Goods with which Russia can wage war against Ukraine should not be imported through Estonia.

It is suspected that some of the goods transported through Estonia might remain in Russia and thus the sanctions against Russia could be circumvented.

– Even if third countries are announced as the destination, we don’t believe it. It is clear that goods are smuggled through us, Estonian Finance Minister Jürgen Ligi said.

Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna wrote in the message service X that Estonia must do everything to help Ukraine win and raise the costs of the war for Russia.

The Prime Minister added that by introducing full control of goods, they can make it difficult to move to equip Russia’s war machine. Estonia is also aware of the fact that crossing the border will slow down with the change. It is hoped that this will affect the fact that less and less traffic will go to Russia.

If you want to cross the border on foot in the future, each person’s luggage will be checked. If the passenger crosses the border with a vehicle, not only the luggage but also the vehicle is checked.

The police are worried about young moped drivers in Nastola, who disregard road traffic rules. PASI LEISMA

The police in Häme are concerned about the dangerous moped behavior of young people in Lahti’s Nastola. The police have received several reports about the road traffic behavior of mopeds during the summer. The activities of moped riders have also caused danger to other road users.

According to reports and police observations, Nastola’s moped drivers speed, show off and drive through intersections without paying attention to other traffic. According to the police, moped riders have often also covered the license plates of their scooters.

The police say in their announcement that moped riders have also clearly tried to create chase situations with the police. The police characterize the road traffic use as very reckless.

A few criminal reports have been registered on the matter.

The police in Häme appeal to parents so that they find out about their own children’s moping and talk with young people about appropriate road traffic behavior.

The police say that in their eyes the situation seems that if there is no change in road traffic behavior, accidents cannot be avoided.
