“Suddenly it hit me” – Taking photos on a train track took a horrible turn in Georgia – 2024-09-10 12:54:14

A young woman narrowly escaped being hit by a train.

A shocking video shows how a train hit a young woman on the track between Batumi and Kobuleti in Georgia.

Survived being hit by a train What Lomidzeksik says that he did not realize that there were trains running on the track at the time.

According to Lomidzeks, he was supposed to take pictures with his friends. It was already too late when he heard the train coming.

– I thought that I was standing far enough anyway, so I wasn’t too worried.

– When I first looked, I didn’t even see the train, and then it suddenly hit me, Lomidzeksi says.

In a message published on social media, Lomidzeks added that he was happy to be alive. It was all about the cents.

– I can’t turn back the clock, and it’s not the driver’s fault or really anyone’s fault. I should have looked more closely, he admits.

The Finnish Railways Agency warns

For these reasons, moving and staying in the railway area (tracks, yard, platform, standing wagons) is dangerous to life, and therefore prohibited by law:

1. Today’s trains no longer like the traditional train horn, they are really quiet. That’s why you can’t easily hear an approaching train until it’s already too late.

2. There is always a danger to life on an electric railway. Electricity can “jump” from the catenary wires above the tracks and strike from far away. Climbing on top of the carriages and poles is very dangerous and therefore prohibited.

3. By law, you may only cross the railway at official level crossings or via a bridge/underpass. You can also be fined for correcting across the track.

4. The train cannot swerve and its stopping distance is always several hundred meters. A train moving at high speed, weighing hundreds of thousands, even millions of kilograms, does not stop quickly, but requires a long stopping distance.

5. The train is wider than the tracks, and the air flow of a speeding train easily knocks over a person moving near the track, who can also fall onto the tracks.

6. Vandalism is prohibited and dangerous also for the author himself. Staying on the track is always reported to the emergency center and the police.

7. Train schedules are not written in stone. Especially freight trains and track machines often move ahead of schedule or behind schedule. You never know when the train will come.

It was expensive for a man of his age to douse a woman – 2024-09-09 10:30:56

The man was not convicted in the district court, but he was found guilty in the court of appeal.

It was expensive for a man of his age to douse a woman

Court of Appeal of Turku. Ismo Pekkarinen

A woman’s first bicycle ride home from work in the spring ended in a fight, in which she injured herself after falling under her own electric bicycle in Turku in May 2022.

The woman said she was surprised when the cycling route turned into a narrow sidewalk. He was then stopped by an elderly man who announced that people over the age of 12 were not allowed to ride bikes on the sidewalk.

Shortly after this, the woman fell against the stairs and onto the door stop. He got stuck under his 27 kg bike and couldn’t get out on his own. He complained of pain when two people who came to the scene helped him out from under the bike.

The woman’s neck snapped and it was difficult for her to turn her head for two or three weeks. In addition, he had pain in his elbow, back and leg.

The bike had an electrical fault and wobbles, and one of the pedals broke. The glasses in the woman’s backpack broke when their case got stuck in the puddle.

The district court refused

The case was later discussed in court, when the prosecutor demanded that the man be sentenced for mild assault. According to the prosecutor and the woman, the man pushed the woman into the street.

The man denied it. He said that he had stopped a cyclist whose driving he described as speedy.

According to the man, after the stop, the woman pushed her bike towards him, causing him to touch the handlebars of the bike.

Suddenly the woman lost her balance and fell. The man considered it possible that the bicycle pedal might have hit the woman’s calf, causing her to fall.

In the opinion of the district court of Varsinais-Suomen, there was doubt about what exactly happened in the incident. The district court dismissed the charge of mild assault.

Stand firm

The prosecutor and the woman appealed the district court’s verdict to the Turku Court of Appeal.

In the court of appeals, the woman found it impossible that she would have fallen from a sturdy crotch position to the ground other than as a result of reaching for her hands.

The supportive standing position was also told by a witness, who also saw the man punch two women in the upper body. The same witness also reported the incident to the emergency center.

Unlike the district court, the court of appeal found the witness’s account reliable. In the district court’s opinion, the credibility of the report had been weakened by the fact that the witness had made his observations while driving a car.

The Court of Appeal of Turku sentenced a man born in 1942 to a 10-day fine for mild assault. The man had to pay 180 euros.

The court ordered the man to compensate the woman 1,000 euros for pain, stiffness and other temporary inconvenience, 480 euros for the repair costs of the bike and its depreciation, and 300 euros for the broken glasses and their case.

In addition, the man had to pay more than 4,800 euros of the woman’s court costs.

Madrid, the capital of Spain, will ban electric scooter rental services from October. Mayor of Madrid Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida says the city is revoking existing licenses for rental services and will not issue new licenses to other businesses.

The cancellation of the licenses is justified by the fact that the rental services have not been able to limit the movement of electric scooter users or supervise the parking of the boards.

– We are canceling the licenses for electric scooter rental services in our city. They have not followed the conditions we have set to guarantee the safety of pedestrians, says Martínez-Almeida in the statement.

The Madrid City Council has been regulating the electric scooter rental market since May 2023. It has licensed three companies, Lime, Dotti and Tieri, each of which was licensed to rent 2,000 kickboards.

Rental services were required to ensure that customers park their skateboards in designated areas. Scooters may also not be rented near pedestrian streets or historical parks.

The rental companies have not met the requirements, which is why all business licenses are cancelled. Companies have 20 days to appeal the decision. The ban on renting electric scooters comes into force in October.

E-scooter rental services have sparked opposition in cities around the world because many customers don’t follow traffic rules or parking restrictions. Among other things, Paris has previously banned the renting of electric scooters.

We didn’t see it coming – Live streaming from Sicily – 2024-08-20 15:27:44

The luxury yacht caught in the eye of the storm had 12 passengers and 10 crew members, one of whom has been confirmed dead.

Six people are missing and one has died after a luxury yacht capsized in a storm off the coast of Sicily, reports the Wall Street Journal.

The missing people are feared to have been stuck in their cabins when the ship was caught in the eye of a tornado at four in the morning. According to Giornale di Sicilia, it is considered likely that the missing are still inside the yacht, which sank at a depth of 49 meters.

“We didn’t see that coming” is all the ship’s captain James Catfield has commented to the media. A tearful Catfield has been treated for a calf injury.

Divers are currently surveying the situation. A diver who commented on a Sicilian newspaper Marco Tilotta says that the first dive has been completed, visibility is good and the next goal is to get inside the ship.

– We are doing everything we can to find the bodies. The weather conditions are getting worse, but we hope that we can continue the operation without any problems.

There were a total of 22 people on board, 10 crew members and 12 passengers. 15 of them have been saved. One person, who worked as a cook on board, has been confirmed dead Ricardo Tomas.

One of the missing is a British technology entrepreneur Mike Lynchwho founded an IT company called Autonomy in the 1990s. The American technology company Hewlett-Packard bought the company for 11 billion dollars in 2011. Known as “Britain’s Bill Gates”, Lynch has also founded other technology companies, such as Invoke Capital and Darktrace. In 2018, Lynch was accused of fraud related to a business transaction, for which he was acquitted last June.

Also Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter Hannah is among the lost.

Rescuers have been trying to find missing people from the wreckage.

The rescue service of Sicily has confirmed the list of missing persons, on which, in addition to the Lynches, the director of Morgan Stanley International has been reported as missing Jonathan Bloomer with his wife and CEO of Lynch’s company Chris Morvillon and Nada Morvillon.

According to Sicilian newspapers, most of the passengers were employees of Lynch’s company and they were on board on a prize trip. Lynch’s wife is also among those rescued Angela Bacares. He is currently in a wheelchair due to the wounds on his legs.

The Bayesian sailing vessel is registered to the company Revtom, managed by Bacares. The woman is said to have been sitting on the beach on Tuesday, staring intently at the sea, towards the place where the ship sank.

The youngest of those rescued was only one year old Sofiawho was on board with his parents. The whole family survived the accident.

Investigation underway

Giornale di Sicilia reports that according to some evidence, a strong wind broke the yacht’s mast, causing the boat to capsize and fill with water. Eyewitnesses say that the ship sank in an instant.

Next to the ship was a Dutch sailing ship, the crew of which saved some of those on the accident yacht. The captain of a Dutch ship Karsten Börner tells a Sicilian newspaper that they were on their way to port when the storm hit.

– Then we realized that the platform next to us was no longer there, Börner describes.

The Sicilian prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into what happened. Questions have been raised as to how a modern luxury ship renovated in 2020 could sink in seconds when nearby ships survived the storm completely undamaged. Britain has also sent a team of inspectors from the Marine Accident Investigation Unit to Palermo to assess the incident.

A storm ravaging the streets of Palermo was recorded on a surveillance camera, which sank a yacht in Italy. Technology billionaire Mike Lynch and five other people who were on the sunken yacht are still missing. reuters
