‘chicago P.D.’ Reveals Fate of Officer Kiana Cook After Toya Turner‘s Departure
Fans of NBC’s Chicago P.D. learned the in-universe reason for Officer kiana Cook’s exit during Wednesday’s season premiere, “Consequences,” following actress Toya Turner’s departure from the series. The episode addressed the character’s absence after she was last seen attending Detective Kim Burgess and Officer Adam Ruzek‘s wedding in the Season 12 finale, “Vows.”
Turner joined the cast in 2024,debuting early in Season 12 as a former tactical officer demoted to patrol. She quickly caught the attention of the Intelligence Unit after assisting in a case and was later recruited by Voight. Her departure was announced exclusively by Deadline in June, wiht Turner stating her time on the show “challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of.”
The premiere revealed Kiana has “taken a permanent spot in the 17th” - meaning she’s been reassigned to patrol duty – as a outcome of the inquiry into Voight’s Intelligence Unit following the death of Deputy Chief Charlie Reid. Despite the team being cleared, Commander Devlin declined to reinstate Intelligence, prompting Voight to advocate for his team’s return to active duty to prevent further loss of colleagues.
New episodes of Chicago P.D. air Wednesdays at 10 pm ET on NBC. The series is produced by Universal television and Wolf Entertainment.
