Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo were both in the Hamptons over the weekend โ at the same area hotspot.
The mayor hit the ritzy East End of Long Island to appear at a Saturday fundraiser at the estate of Hamptons Polo couple Maria and Kenneth Fishel. Hizzoner also showed up at a power breakfast at eatery 75 Main earlier on Saturday.
But potential spoiler Cuomo was also in the area schmoozing โ while still controversially mulling his run for mayor after his stunning loss in the Democratic Mayoralย Primary to socialist pole Zohran โ and he dined at the same resto the night before.
Before Adams appeared at the lunchtime fundraiser co-hosted by John and Margo Catsimatidis, Jared and Mindy Epstein and Toddย and Liz Shapiro, he made the surprise appearance at a power breakfast, invoking hockey legend Wayne Gretzky as he ramped up his longshot reelection bid.
NYC Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro was the invited guest speaker, but Adams showed up near the end of the morning event and gave a fiery campaign address, spies said.
The โHamptons Business Power Breakfastโ was co-hosted by billionaire supermarket and media magnate John Catsimatidis and Father Alexander Karloutsos at 75 Main in Southampton.
In his speech about โkeeping New York safeโ and โwarning against far-left ideologies that threaten the cityโs progress,โ a spy told us, Adams also recalled โthe Great Oneโ Gretsky โ talking about his team (presumably the โ80s Edmonton Oilers) being battered, beaten and tired in a grueling series, we hear.
โGretzky then got up and walked into the opponentsโ locker room. They were battered and tired,โ Adams recalled Gretsky saying, according to an attendee.ย The anecdote fueled Adams, whose tenure as been tainted by scandal. โAdams made it crystal clear he will fight to the end,โ the attendee said.
Adams also took a shot at Democratic mayoral nominee Mamdani, who โis notโ black or African American, as he claimed on his Columbia University admissions applicationhe said.
He said Mamdaniโs proposals are dead-enders, contending the two-term assemblyman canโt get his $9 billion in income tax hikes on the wealthy and corporations without Albanyโs blessing. Gov. Kathy Hochul โ up for re-election next year โ is opposed.
โAdams basically said Adams canโt change the tax code by himself,โ the attendee said.
A third source related that Adams told the 75 Main crowd that when he dines at any restaurant, he heads into the kitchen to โthank the cooks and the dishwashers,โ our spy said. โIโm going to win for them,โ Adams told the crowd, we hear, though our spy then joked, โhe then asked for more money lol.โ
Later, over 100 guests โ including Mitch Modell โ attended the Adams fundraiser at the Fishelsโ estate. (We previously reported an Adams backer saying of the planned event, โWith Cuomo out, people are coming to Adams with oodles of cash.โ)
Cuomo was also seen at 75 Main over the weekend, dining with a friend on Saturday night, according to Hampton Sheetย editor Joan Jedell.
A source tells us that Cuomo is still mulling whether to mount a general election bid for mayor in November. A recent poll aimed at drumming up support for Adamsโ re-election surprisingly showed the incumbent trailing Cuomo by double digits, the Post reported.
When Cuomo dined at the eatery on July Fourth, a spy tells us that a number of supporters were stopping him on Main Street to tell the political scion to stay in the race. A Cuomo rep declined comment.
We hear that Cuomo was in the Hamptons to attend political insider Lally Weymouthโs annual Hamptons birthday bash and Independence Day party on Saturday. Cuomo has been known to be a regular guest in the past with attendees like George Pataki, Rudy Giuliani, Sen. Chuck Schumer, Carl Icahn, Lloyd Blankfein, Catsimatidis and Robertย Kraft.
Sources also told Page Six that Cuomo was spotted in the Bronx on Thursday, and Brooklyn on Wednesday, talking to voters about next potential steps. A source close to the pol told us, โhis concern for this city had never been greater.โ
(Right after Cuomo lost in the primary, we reported that he was headed on a weekend getaway with a mystery girlfriend.)
After Adamsโ Saturday fundraiser, the Fishels also hosted a Tunnel to Towers gala, spearheaded by Cushman & Wakefieldโs Bruce Mosler, where over 400 veterans were honored.
We hear that Suffolk County county legislator Chad Lennon โ a decorated Purple Heart recipient โ delivered an emotional keynote, and guests included Vicki Schneps of Danโs Papers, Southampton Supervisor Maria Moore and longtime New York political insider Jerry Kremer.
Also at Zach Erdemโs 75 Main, a source said of the July Fourth holiday, โonly in the Hamptons could a front-row table to a small-town parade cost a cool $10,000. Thatโs what boldface names were shelling outโ to watch Southamptonโs Old Fashioned Fourth of July Parade.
In the parade, a 77 WABC Radio trolley carried John and Margo Catsimatidis.
