The Vancouver Canucks acquired defenseman Nick Cicek and a fourth-round draft pick from the San Jose Sharks on Friday in exchange for forward Jack Studnick.

We recommend:
Will his suffering end? Tomáš Tatar was replaced!

Cicek played 18 games in the lower AHL this season, registering a goal and two assists. At the age of 23, he has played 16 NHL games with four assists.

A year older, Studnicka played five duels with one goal for the first team this season. In Abbotsford, he added nine duels in which he recorded a goal and six assists. He played a total of 90 games in the NHL with 16 points (6+10). He also played for Boston, who drafted him 53rd overall in 2017.

VEGAS – Calgary hockey players in a lineup with two Slovaks lost in the overseas NHL in Vegas 4:5 pp. Mark Stone scored the winning goal with four points (2+2).

Adama Ružička and Martin Pospíšil started for the guests, who scored an assist. In total, four Slovaks were in action on Wednesday night. Arizona with Miloš Kelemen lost on the ice of Pittsburgh 2:4, Tampa Bay with Erik Černák was not enough against Vancouver 1:4. Toronto’s Auston Matthews and Vancouver’s Brock Boeser are the first in the season to break the 20-goal mark and lead the scoring charts.

Pospíšil’s first point after nine games

Calgary won on the opponent’s ice in the second period twice by one goal. However, Jegor Šarangović had to save the overtime for the “flames” exactly one minute before the end of the third period, Stone finally decided after 71 seconds of overtime.

Pospíšil assisted Nazem Kadri’s goal in the 23rd minute to make it 2:1, when he kept the puck in the attacking zone, sent it between the circles to Connor Zary, and Kadri put his shot into the net. The Slovak scored for the first time after nine matches and for the sixth time in his 17th meeting. Before that, he last scored a point on November 18th when he scored against the NY Islanders.

Before that, he last scored a point on November 18th when he scored against the NY Islanders. He spent 11:57 minutes on the ice and scored a plus, two hits and two shots on goal. His compatriot and teammate Ružička played 8:06 minutes with three shots.

“It was an even match, in the third period the home team turned the score around, but we managed to extract at least a point” evaluated the coach of the “flames” Ryan Huska, whose team lost the fifth of the past six meetings.

The Penguins like to play against Arizona

The Penguins won their eleventh straight game against Arizona. The guests recorded their fourth loss in a row, the hosts ended an equally unfavorable streak against the Coyotes. Home goalkeeper Connor Ingram achieved a 93 percent success rate with 40 saves despite conceding three goals. His Slovakian teammate Kelemen had his second lowest ice time in the NHL when he played only 5:53 minutes and had one shot on goal.

Tampa took the lead against Vancouver after 95 seconds thanks to Brayden Point, but did not add another goal. Less than five minutes later, Andrej Kuzmenko equalized, followed by a clean hat trick from his teammate Brock Boeser, who thus has 21 accurate hits in the season.

Černak played in an elite formation and spent 18:39 minutes on the ice. He finished the game with a minus, two holding penalty minutes and gave up three hits. “It’s amazing, especially compared to last season,” was looking forward to Boeser, who had a balance of 18 goals in 74 duels last year. He already has five hat-tricks in the NHL.

“I have to continue to focus on what brings me success. I work hard every day and I want to help my team win.”

Matthews’ four-pointer silenced Madison Square

Auston Matthews was the main star of Toronto in the victorious meeting on the ice of the NY Rangers. He scored two goals and two assists in the 7-3 triumph, it was his first four-point night of the season. He scored seven goals in the past five matches.

“I feel like I’ve got the right rhythm,” said the American striker after the match, who is the competition’s top scorer with Boeser. Both have 21 accurate hits. Mitchell Marner added two hits and an assist for Matthews. Blake Wheeler scored twice for the Rangers, Mika Zibanejad had a 1+1 record. Artemij Panarin had one assist for the home team and it was his 700th point in the NHL (232+468), his teammate Jacob Trouba reached the goal of 300 points (72+228).

The Red Wings saw off another team’s second coach

Hockey players St. Louis lost at home to Detroit 4:6, and after the fourth loss in a row, Craig Berube was fired as their coach. He was replaced by Drew Bannister, who until now worked as Springfield’s coach in the AHL. Berube has been on the Bluesmen’s bench since November 2019, and in the same season he led them to win the Stanley Cup. His team is now in sixth place in the Central Division.

It is interesting that Berube is the second coach who had to be removed from the bench during this season just after the game with Detroit. The first one was Dean Evason from the Minnesota Wild after a 1:4 defeat on the ice of the Red Wings.

Edmonton is already reaching for playoff positions

Connor McDavid extended his point streak to 10 games, with two assists to help Edmonton beat Chicago 4-1. During this streak, he scored 25 points (6+19). Connor Bedard, a draft pick from this year, scored the guests’ only goal. It was his twelfth goal of the season, he has the same number of assists. For Bedard, it was the first duel against McDavid, the number one pick in the 2015 draft.

Joey Daccord recorded his first NHL clean sheet as he made 24 saves to help Seattle end an eight-game losing streak. Thanks to him, the Kraken beat Florida 4:0. “Fantasy. I am very grateful for the opportunity to catch in the NHL and for the fact that the coaching staff and the guys believe in me. To add a clean sheet against such a quality team is very special for me.” said the 27-year-old goalkeeper.

San Jose players won the third of the last four meetings, beating Winnipeg 2:1 at home. The decisive goal was scored by Swedish forward William Eklund in a power play in the 56th minute. The guests ended their four-game winning streak.

NHL – results:

NY Rangers – Toronto 3:7

Ottawa – Carolina 1:4

Pittsburgh – Arizona 4:2

St. Louis – Detroit 4:6

Nashville – Philadelphia 3:2 pp

Edmonton-Chicago 4:1

St. Louis Blues Management No Longer Interested in Czech Forward Jakub Vrána: NHL Updates and Standout Players

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com December 12, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Management of the hockey club St. Louis Blues are no longer interested in Czech forward Jakub Vrána.

According to the renowned website The Athletic, the Blues placed the 27-year-old hockey player on the list of free agents and offered him to other clubs in the NHL.

Vrána, who won the Stanley Cup with Washington in 2018, had a miserable start to the season.

He played in only 19 games, in which he collected six points for two goals and four assists, but he often did not fit into the lineup.

St. Louis acquired Vrana from Detroit in March in exchange for Dylan McLaughlin and a seventh-round pick in the 2025 draft.

The forward, who was chosen by Washington as the thirteenth pick in the 2014 draft, has played 365 games in the NHL so far and recorded 209 points (110+99).

On the contrary, another Czech striker is experiencing a successful period in the elite league. The San Jose forward was named the second star of the past week in the overseas NHL.

The main award went to Nikita Kučerov from Tampa Bay, and another forward Sam Reinhart from Florida came in third.

Hertl has had a very unusual week with the Sharks, who remain the worst team in the competition but have shown significant improvement in recent games compared to the start of the season.

They played three matches during it, and although they lost in all of them by at least a two-goal difference, they eventually won five points out of six possible. Team leader Hertl contributed six points for five goals and an assist.

The Californian team first overcame a 1:4 deficit in the New York Islanders arena to win 5:4 in overtime, and the 30-year-old native of Prague contributed to this with the sixth hat trick of his career in the NHL.

The game in Detroit followed, where the Sharks were losing 0:4 and then 4:5, but thanks to Hertl’s two hits, they again celebrated a 6:5 win in overtime.

The last time San Jose appeared on the Vegas ice, they saved a point despite losing 1:3 and 2:4. The defending champions of the Stanley Cup then managed better individual raids. Hertl extended his personal point streak to five games with the assist.

In total, he scored 24 points for nine goals and 15 assists in 27 starts this season and is at the head of the team’s productivity. He is also the Sharks leading scorer and scorer.

Kučerov was significantly responsible for the fact that the Lightning won three out of four games last week. In all successful matches, he was the author of the winning goal.

The 30-year-old Russian forward scored a total of seven points for four goals and three assists during the given period. The best player of the month of November thus improved to 47 points (19+28) from 28 games and leads the entire NHL in scoring. The second JT Miller from Vancouver loses seven points to him, the third David Pastrňák from Boston by one more point.

The 28-year-old Reinhart was the most productive player in the past week with eight points per goal and seven assists. He was instrumental in the Panthers winning all three games.

He excelled especially in the last game in Columbus, where he contributed to a 5:2 victory with four saves. He has a total of 37 points (17+20) from 27 games this season.

Although he did not play in the evening game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Seattle Kraken called up Slovakian forward Marián Studenič from Coachella Valley from the lower AHL on Saturday.

Studenič was called up a day after the NHL’s youngest team placed forward Andre Burakovsky on the injured list. This is his second job in less than two weeks.

Twenty-five-year-old Záhorák played two games in this NHL season with a minus point and two penalty minutes. He played 17 games on the “farm”, in which he scored seven goals and added five assists. The last time he enjoyed a goal was on Friday.

Šimon Nemec: Living the Dream with the New Jersey Devils and NHL Aspirations

Šimon Nemec is currently living a dream in the first team of the New Jersey Devils, and his participation in the upcoming World Junior Championships seems less likely. However, the young defender believes that Slovakia can achieve success even without him or Juraj Slafkovský.

“Of course he has, he has an excellent goalkeeper in the form of Adam Gajan. They can certainly surprise and maybe there won’t be so much pressure on them and they can win a big result. We have a strong generation. In the past, we would have given a lot for two players in the NHL at this age,” Nemec told the Šport newspaper.

So is the participation of the German in the tournament definitively ruled out?

“I won’t answer that for you, but you probably know the answer,” answered the second pick of last year’s draft.

Article continues below advertisement

The German’s priority now is to stay in the NHL as long as possible. At the moment, he does not know how long he will be active in the first team. He will play in the first pair again on Tuesday against Vancouver, but then Brendan Smith will be able to return from suspension.

“I should play another game and we’ll see what happens after that. I believe I will stay at the Devils as long as possible. I will go all out in every match because I want to play in the best league in the world. The conditions cannot be compared with anything else,” said Nemec, who also compared the NHL with the AHL.

“I wasn’t as beaten as I was in the AHL, where I score five or six points every third period. I didn’t get similar ‘hits’ here, which surprised me. It was much easier to play in the attacking zone, because the players are very smart and know how to pass it to you. It was easier than in the AHL.”

Pekarčík experienced a successful return to action: He extended his streak

OHL Slovaks did not score in the OHL. Martin Mišiak and Ondrej Molnár scored a minus point in Erie’s 3-4 overtime loss to Flint. The second-named also received a minor penalty for a cross.

Dalibor Dvorský sent up to seven shots on goal, but for the first time since arriving overseas he did not score. His Sudbury lost to Brantford 0:4. Alex Čajkovič recorded two minus points in North Bay’s 2:4 loss to Barrie, Servác Petrovský even four in Owen Sound’s 2:5 loss to Mississauga.

QMJHL Peter Repčík became the QMJHL’s first star of the game as he scored his first career hat trick and added an assist to lead Drummondville to a 6-3 win over Blainville-Boisbriand. He also scored a plus point and stretched his respectable goal streak to five games. After 18 duels of the season, he has 13 goals and 22 points.
