There is news circulating that Polda Metro Jaya investigators searched the office and home of the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri in the midst of an alleged extortion case against the former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL). Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto spoke.
“Like this… like this… like this… Regarding investigations, there are many things that are called coercive measures. Whichever is necessary, which is desired, we have to complete the administration, then we will carry it out. Still in process,” said Karyoto to journalists, Wednesday (11/10/2023).
Information regarding this search emerged after Polda Metro Jaya raised the status of handling the alleged extortion case against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo alias SYL to the investigation stage. The person reported in the case was the KPK leader.
Karyoto said that until now the police were still investigating the existing case. Investigators, continued Karyoto, are still carrying out a series of processes since the case moved to the investigation stage.
“There are things that, in nature, an investigation is a kind of system where a report is received, it is processed, investigated, evidence is sought, it is clarified. If there is anything in the case, it has already been reported, there is nothing new,” he added.
RW Chairman Denies Search
Since yesterday, information has been circulating that says KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri’s house in the Bekasi area was searched. However, the head of the local RW stated that this was not true.
“Not true,” said the head of the local RW, Irwan Irawan, when asked for confirmation, Tuesday (10/10/2023).
Firli’s house is in the Villa Galaxy Bekasi area. Irwan said there was no information regarding the search.
“Yes (certainly not there),” he added.

Firli’s explanation regarding the meeting with SYL
In this regard, Firli Bahuri has provided a response. Firli denied extortion and said that the meeting with SYL took place before the KPK handled the alleged corruption case which allegedly involved SYL at the KPK.
“The meeting on the badminton court between me and the Minister of Agriculture at that time, Brother Syahrul Yasin Limpo, took place before that period, to be precise around March 2 2022. And it was also a crowd in an open area,” Firli told reporters, Monday (9/ 10/2023).
Firli emphasized that SYL’s status at the time of the meeting was not yet a party to the case at the KPK. He also admitted that the meeting was not his initiation.
“So at that time, Brother Syahrul Yasin Limpo’s status was not a suspect, defendant, convict or party to a case at the KPK. This incident was not initiated or invited by me,” explained Firli.
Firli further asked the public not to be led by opinions regarding the wild issue of his meeting with SYL and obscuring the corruption case in the Ministry of Agriculture which is being investigated by the KPK.
“For this reason, we hope that the public will not be led by opinions that do not match the facts and can obscure the main case that the KPK is handling, namely alleged criminal acts of corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture in the form of extortion in office, gratification and TPPU,” said Firli.
