Munich Confirmed as 2028 Champions league Final Host; UEFA Reveals Bidding Interest for 2028 & 2029 Finals
Munich, Germany - The Allianz Arena in Munich will host the 2027-28 UEFA Champions League final, UEFA announced today, alongside a wave of interest declarations for hosting rights to both the champions League and Conference League finals in 2028 and 2029. The decision marks a return of Europe’s premier club competition final to Germany after a nine-year hiatus, last held in Berlin in 2015.
this allocation of the 2028 final is part of a broader cycle of final appointments, signaling UEFA’s long-term planning for its flagship club competitions. The proclamation comes as the institution confirms significant interest from cities across Europe vying to host future finals, reflecting the prestige and economic impact associated with staging these events. These decisions impact not only the participating clubs and their fans, but also the host cities, offering ample tourism revenue and international exposure.
For the 2028 Champions League final, alongside Munich, France (either Lyon or Paris) and Turin have also expressed interest. Bucharest and Belgrade are also candidates. The following year, in 2029, France (again, Lyon or Paris), Turin, Bucharest, and Ankara are in contention.
Competition for hosting the UEFA Europa League and Europa Conference League finals is equally robust. At least six cities – Lille, Budapest, Turin, Astana or Almaty in Kazakhstan, and Gdansk in Poland – have declared interest in staging the 2028 Conference League final.Seven venues are candidates for the 2029 edition: Helsinki, Lille, Budapest, Turin, Astana or Almaty, and Gdansk.
Budapest’s Puskas Arena is already confirmed as the host for the 2025-26 Champions League final and is also bidding for Conference League hosting rights. Oslo’s Ullevaal Stadium will host the Women’s Champions League final in the same season. This season’s Europa League and Conference league finals will be held in Istanbul and Leipzig, respectively.
