Seven People Shot at Lincoln University Tailgate Event
LINCOLN UNIVERSITY,PA – Seven people were shot Saturday night at Lincoln University in Chester County,Pennsylvania,during a tailgate adn yardfest event near the football field,authorities said. Federal law enforcement agencies are investigating the shooting, which occurred just after 9 p.m.
The Chester County District Attorney’s office is urging the public to avoid the area as surrounding roads have been blocked off. The condition of the victims is currently unknown. It is indeed unclear what led to the shooting. Witnesses reported seeing one person receiving CPR and others being treated after being knocked to the ground and trampled as people sought cover.
Lincoln University,founded in 1854,is the nation’s oldest degree-granting historically Black college or university. Counseling services will be available on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. for students and staff who need support, according to an Instagram post from the university.
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro stated on X (formerly twitter), “I’ve been briefed on the shooting at Lincoln University tonight, and my Governance has offered our full support to President Allen and local law enforcement. Please avoid the area, continue to follow the guidance of local law enforcement, and join lori and me in praying for the Lincoln University community.”
Chester County Commissioner Eric Roe said in a Facebook post, “Please join me in praying for the students and faculty of lincoln University, and also the brave members of law enforcement on the scene. It appears there has been a mass shooting there tonight.”
