La Jornada – San Francisco beats Seattle to lead its division

Seattle. Brock Purdy threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns, and the San Francisco 49ers never trailed in Thursday’s 36-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

Deebo Samuel contributed a reception that netted 76 yards and a touchdown. He finished with three receptions for 102 yards for the 49ers (3-3), defending National Conference champions.

San Francisco caught up with Seattle (3-3) at the top of the NL West Division, after a weak start to the season.

George Kittle caught five passes for 58 yards and two scores for the 49ers, who beat Seattle for the sixth straight time. Kyle Juszczyk added a late touchdown for San Francisco and, like Kittle, celebrated with a jump toward the stands.

They both hugged their wives, who were sitting together in the front row.

Matthew Wright, who joined San Francisco this week as a replacement for injured kicker Jake Moody, made three field goals in the first half, from 25, 41 and 35 yards.

Geno Smith passed for 312 yards and a touchdown, but suffered two interceptions. The Seahawks suffered their third loss in a row after starting the season 3-0 under new coach Mike Macdonald.

NFL: Seattle Seahawks vs San Francisco 49ers

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 11, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The San Francisco 49ers sealed a momentous 36-24 victory this Thursday in the field of the Seattle Seahawks, their divisional rivals in the West of the NFL National Conference, to catch their breath after last Sunday’s traumatic loss against the Arizona Cardinals .

Seattle’s Lumen Field hosted a very heavy crossing in the balance of the NFC after the lackluster start of the Niners, still orphaned by Christian McCaffrey. The Californians balanced their record of wins and losses (3-3) and inflicted the third straight setback on the Seahawks (3-3).

With this test of strength at home, the Niners snatched the lead in the NFC West from the Seahawks. They also beat them for the sixth consecutive time, before facing Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs next week in the reissue of the last Super Bowl lost by the Californians in Las Vegas.

Quarterback Brock Purdy led the victory with 255 yards thrown (18 of 28 passing) and three touchdown passes, the most spectacular of which to Deebo Samuel (76 yards on that reception, 102 in total).

George Kittle sealed two TDs in a great night, in which he received five times, for 58 yards. Kyle Juszczyk scored the 49ers’ other ‘TD’ on the run, in which Isaac Guerendo ran for up to 99 yards on ten runs.

For the Seahawks, Geno Smith threw for 312 yards (30-of-52 passing), with a touchdown pass, but was intercepted twice, by Renardo Green and Malik Mustapha.

Kenneth Walker rushed for 32 yards on fourteen carries and scored a TD. Tyler Lockett had a TD reception, and Laviska Shenault sealed a spectacular TD return.

The game couldn’t have started better for the 49ers. Malik Mustapha intercepted Smith on the first drive and the Californians took control of the game with a subsequent Wright field goal from 25 yards out.

Shanahan’s team stepped on the accelerator in the second period, with a monumental 76-yard connection between Purdy and Deebo Samuel, who scored the first touchdown of the night in style. Two field goals from a perfect Wright, respectively from 41 and 35 yards, increased the lead to a tough 16-0.

Although Jason Myers’ foot from 20 yards cut it to 3-16 on the brink of halftime, the duel seemed already doomed as soon as the restart began with a spectacular ‘TD’ by Kittle (10 yards) on a pass from Purdy. The tight end showed off all his talent as he shuffled his feet on the ground to stay inside the end zone.

However, the Seahawks have character and they showed it again tonight with a noble reaction. Laviska Shenault led the way with a spectacular return TD. He traveled 97 yards and brought electricity back to a game in which, at the end of the third period, Kenneth Walker scored the score on the run that increased the score to 17-23.

The Seahawks had the ball to even take the lead and complete a stellar comeback, but the Niners defense, led by a great Nick Bosa, closed down. Purdy and Kittle did the rest. Nine-yard line from the ‘QB’ for the tight end, who celebrated the fifth ‘TD’ of his season to make it 29-17 with 6.20 remaining.

It was enough for the Niners, although the heart of the Seahawks led them to cut it back with 1.44 left thanks to a ‘TD’ by Tyler Lockett with a nine-yard reception). Juszczyk had the last word for the Niners, who leave Seattle with a major victory in the NFC.

Rams rally from 14-point deficit to beat 49ers

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com September 24, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Inglewood.A 37-yard field goal by rookie Joshua Karty with two seconds left gave the Los Angeles Rams a spectacular comeback to beat the San Francisco 49ers 27-24.

The Rams (1-2) rallied from a 14-point second-half deficit to claim their second straight win over San Francisco (1-2) after losing 10 of their previous 12 NFC West meetings.

Jaun Jennings had career highs with 11 receptions for 175 yards and three touchdowns as the Niners blew a lead of at least 14 points for the first time since 2018.

Los Angeles trailed 24-14 midway through the fourth quarter, but Jake Moody missed a 55-yard field goal attempt for San Francisco with 2:43 left. Matthew Stafford quickly found Tutu Atwell for a 50-yard completion to the San Francisco 5-yard line, and Williams cashed in two plays later.

Then Ronnie Bell dropped a long pass with 1:02 left that would have put San Francisco in field goal range, and Xavier Smith, called up from the Rams’ practice squad for this game, made his first career punt return 38 yards to midfield moments later.

Dallas Cowboys stumble at home against Baltimore

Lamar Jackson and Baltimore resisted a late Dallas comeback attempt.

With two touchdowns from the star quarterback, the Ravens defeated the Cowboys 28-25 in a game marked by suspense in the final minutes.

In addition to Jackson’s brilliant performance, Derrick Henry ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns. The Ravens (1-2) scored on their first two drives, running and throwing with ease, and responded emphatically to the first 0-2 start since 2015 for a franchise coming off a trip to the AFC championship game.

In their last three home games, the Cowboys (1-2) have allowed 120 points, including a 48-32 wild-card loss to Green Bay in January that ended their 16-game winning streak at AT&T Stadium.

Hours before taking control of Dallas, quarterback Dak Prescott received a visit from Mexican flag football star Diana Flores, who shared a message that the player reproduced on her social media.

“My favorite moment: Dak telling me he’s going to put my jersey in his daughter’s room because he hopes one day she’ll be in the Olympics playing flag football. The future is bright,” wrote the captain of the tricolor team.

written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Rookie Joshua Karty kicked a 37-yard field goal with 2 seconds left, and the Los Angeles Rams staged a dramatic late rally to beat the San Francisco 49ers 27-24 on Sunday.

Kyren Williams ran 4 yards for his third touchdown of the day with 1:50 left for the Rams (1-2), who rallied from a 14-point deficit after halftime for their second straight win over San Francisco (1-2) after losing 10 of the previous 12 meetings against the NFC West archrivals.

Jaun Jennings had career-highs with 11 receptions for 175 yards and three touchdowns for the 49ers, who blew a lead of at least 14 points for the first time since 2018.

Brock Purdy threw for 292 yards, but the defending NFC champions and Super Bowl favorites suffered their second straight road loss after falling at Minnesota last week.

Los Angeles trailed 24-14 midway through the fourth quarter, but Jake Moody missed a 55-yard field goal attempt for San Francisco with 2:43 left.

A 25-yard pass interference penalty against linebacker De’Vondre Campbell put the Rams in field goal range, and their rookie kicker made the kick.

Kyren Williams’ 49ers vs. Rams show: Spectacular stunt and gift to kid | TUDN NFL

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com September 22, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Kyren Williams put on a show in Week 3 of the NFL to lead the Los Angeles Rams’ epic comeback over the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 24-27.

The 24-year-old running back carried his team on his shoulders to rally against the 49ers, who even had a 14-point lead at SoFi Stadium.

A lethal duo between Brock Purdy and Jauan Jennings combined to score three touchdowns for San Francisco, but Kyren Williams did not shrink.

Late in the second quarter, with the score at 14-0, Williams took advantage of a pass from Matthew Stafford and then eluded Talanoa Hufanga with a spectacular pirouette to enter the end zone and bring the Rams closer.

In the third quarter, he again reduced the lead to 21-7 by rushing into the end zone on first and goal. After celebrating his second touchdown of the day, Kyren Williams made a great gesture to a little Rams fan in the stands by giving him the ball.

In the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, the 49ers took a 10-point lead over the Rams with a Jake Moody field goal to make it 24-14.

Minutes later, Moody missed a 55-yard field goal to give the Rams life and Williams recorded his third touchdown of the day, his second on the ground, to tie the game with two minutes left.

Ultimately, it was rookie Joshua Karty who gave the Los Angeles Rams the victory with a three-point field goal with two seconds left in the game at SoFi Stadium.

The Rams earned their first win of the 2024 NFL season, while the 49ers suffered their second straight loss; both are 1-2 after Week 3.
