Belgrano lost 0-1 in their visit to Huracán on matchday 11 of the Professional League. The match was played at the Tomás A. Ducó stadium, with Yael Falcón Pérez as referee.

Williams Alarcón scored in the 35th minute of the first half with a left-footed shot from outside the area. The play came after a poor exit by the sky-blue team’s defense.

Belgrano had one more player from the 29th minute of the second half, when Guillermo Benítez saw red.

The “B” team was defeated 1-2 in their visit to Athletico Paranaense, in Brazil, in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana. This Thursday they will face the rematch at 9:30 p.m. at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium.

In the next round of the Professional League, the Celestes will be home to Gimnasia on Monday 26th, at 18:30. With the defeat against Huracán, the Celestes are left with 17 points, six less than Globo, the leader of the competition.

In Belgrano there were three youth debuts: defender Lucas Bernabéu and midfielders Ramiro Hernandes and Lucas Bustos, (who was a starter).

What happened in the match between Huracán and Belgrano

It was obvious that the Belgrano left behind by Juan Cruz Real in Parque Patricios was going to look disjointed. As the coach’s decision was to preserve the starters for the cup rematch of the week, the “B side” took on the match like pieces of a puzzle that did not always fit together. It had a hard time keeping the ball and when it could have recovered it, it lost it quickly.

It was therefore very difficult for them to reach Huracán’s goal. Matías Suárez and Chavarría did what they could. And although Lencioni sometimes came close to them on the left, the effort was insufficient. Even though in the last play of the first half, Tapia reached Huracán’s area and goalkeeper Galíndez responded well.

Huracán always looked for opportunities on the flanks. Mazzantti and Cabral made things difficult for their markers. But there was no relationship between Globo’s dominance and their arrivals until the Paraguayan debutant Juan Espinola.

Perhaps because there were too many repeated crosses. Curiously, the only goal came in the middle at 35 minutes, after a run by Chilean Echeverria, a backheel by “Wanchope” Ábila and a left-footed shot from Alarcón that went in close to the left net. Huracán was winning well against a Belgrano that was playing for a chance.

Back for the second half, Real changed the sky-blue bench: he put debutant Hernándes in for Tapia. And with the entry of the reserve playmaker and greater overall determination, Belgrano got going and leveled the game. They put more people on the attack, but continued to struggle to attack.

Huracán did not repeat its first half. It seemed punctured, with less energy and volume of play. The performance of the midfielders declined, except for Fattori, and the ball reached the forwards from time to time but Belgrano could not take advantage of it.

Benítez’s expulsion for a clash with Facello in the 30th minute forced Huracán to retreat, and they spent the last 20 minutes trying to maintain the difference. They even formed a line of five. Belgrano’s boys pushed hard but their will was not enough. They did what they could, they played one on one with the leader and lost. More cannot be asked of them. Today was their turn. Thursday will be the turn of the greats.
