Paris (dpa)

Tony Estanje, President of the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee, said he was very satisfied with the Games held in the French capital.
“I think it couldn’t be better,” Estanje told France Inter radio, a day after the closing ceremony.
He said he felt relieved, happy and proud, saying that the Games exceeded all expectations, especially because of the enthusiasm and passion of the fans.
He said: “Many have argued that this is the most beautiful Olympics in history.
Estanje said the end of the Games made him feel rather sad. He explained: “It seems strange when you think that the competitions are over, and the Olympic Games are now in the past.
The Paris Olympics officially began on July 26 with an opening ceremony on the River Seine, and ended with a spectacular ceremony on Sunday, and the delivery of the Olympic flag to Los Angeles, which will host the 2028 Games.

Olympic Closing Ceremony: Who is Gabriella Wilson (HER), the singer who sang the American anthem?

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 12, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games are (already) over. The closing ceremony, broadcast live on France Télévisions, took place on Sunday, August 11. The crowd, who came in large numbers to the Stade de France, was able to enjoy the vocal performance of Gabriella Wilson, who sang the United States anthem, in order to make the link between Paris and Los Angeles, where the 2028 Olympic Games will take place. The 27-year-old American singer, also known by the pseudonym HER – which stands for “Having Everything Revealed”, [“Avoir tout révélé”] – is well known to music lovers in her native country, but much less so in France. An observation that has prompted several media outlets, in recent hours, to want to teach their readers more about this singer-songwriter and musician.

It was on June 27, 1997, in Vallejo (California), that this R & B singer was born into a family of artists. Very quickly, she learned to master several instruments. Now, she plays the piano as well as the guitar and drums. At 10 years old, the little girl participated in the American talk show The Maury Showwhich allowed him to gain a certain notoriety by interpreting “Fallin” by Alicia Keys. A performance that impressed Alicia Keys so much that she decided to chaperone her. In 2009, at age 12, Gabriella Wilson starred in a TV movie with Justin Bieber. Seven years later, she unveiled her first songs in H.E.R. Volume 1. In the fall of 2018, she truly rose to fame when she was nominated in five categories at the 2019 Grammy Awards. At the end of the ceremony, she walked away with the coveted awards for Best R&B Album and Best Performance. Also involved in the fight for African-American rights, her song “I Can’t Breathe”in tribute to George Floyd, killed by a white police officer in 2020, was named song of the year in 2021.

Paris Olympics 2024: Gabriella Wilson’s performance followed by that of… Tom Cruise!

On Sunday, August 11, Gabriella Wilson had barely finished singing the American anthem when the credits for the film saga began. Mission : impossible resounded in the Stade de France. Simultaneously, star Tom Cruise appeared: the 62-year-old actor abseiled down onto the roof of the building, to the cheers of the excited crowd. An impressive stunt, worthy of a Hollywood production, which served to symbolise the passing of the baton between the French capital and the city of Los Angeles…

Olympics 2024, closing ceremony live. Tom Cruise jumps from the roof of the stadium and takes the flag away

If Tokyo was a record breaker, Paris is well worth an Oscar. «8 and 1/2», answered Giovanni Malagò to those who asked him to rate the 2024 Olympics in Italy, a few hours before the ceremony. Number 1 Coni laughed, the ‘Fellinian’ thought maybe just a conditioned reflex; he is certainly satisfied with the performance of “the Italian men and women” at the Paris Games. Forty medals, as in Tokyo but with “more quality” because from ten gold, ten silver and 20 bronze three years ago, we have progressed to 12 gold, 13 silver and 15 bronze in the summer of 2024. With the icing on the cake placed during lunch on a Sunday in August by the Italians led by Julio Velasco, who brought, for the first time, a golden Italian volleyball, a set from Paola Egonu did not go and lose his teammates. They won’t take us anymore» by president Pertini at the 1982 World Cup final «They were amazing.

There are no words to describe how good they were. Please give my sincere compliments to federal president Manfredi, coach Velasco and all the girls. Congratulations to you”, president Malagò, “and to the entire Italian team. I will wait for you at the Earthquake.” The appointment set for September 23, at 11 am, for the return of the tricolor flag, was announced at a closing ceremony by the couple who won medals (also in real life), Gregorio Paltrinieri and Rosella Fiamingo. «For Greg – explained Malagò – a necessary choice. For what he has done and what he will do. He has all the requirements to be a standard bearer at the Los Angeles 28.” Let’s see, first, if the Olympian continues to delight in the pool and/or in open water The swimmer and the fencer were certainly among the main performers of the new Olympics to remember, which leaves Italy with a legacy «proving Italy in the leading position in the world’s sports scene. .We are probably the most multidisciplinary country, we have won medals in 20 different disciplines”, pointed out the CONI number 1, reeling off the other data from the 17 days of competitions (since Rio 2016 the streak of 37 days with five cycles in which the Italy has won at least one medal). “In Paris the number of finals increased from 67 to 79”. Then there is also the “strange ranking of fourth place, in which we came first”. With the general secretary of CONI and head of mission Carlo Mornati, Malagò is thinking of a way to celebrate them. «In any case, whoever finished in fourth place is part of the Olympic club» which, after the well-deserved vacation, will start preparing for the California Games. First on the path of Italian history and CONI will be the Olympics in Milan Cortina, scheduled for February 6, 2026. “Now it’s our turn”, is the message from Malagò, who does not know will he do that. take place at the ceremony to declare the Winter Games open. Because there is still a need to clarify the rules of order: the third of Malagò will close in May 2025. If “politics” does not change its mind, also giving CONI the opportunity to what has been made possible for the federations and the sports organizations, that is, to be elected president for a term after the third but on the condition of being higher than 67 percent, in Milan Cortina Malagò will not be the head of the National Olympic Committee more. “I hope that politics uses common sense”, the hope of the CONI number 1, who was disappointed with the Minister of Sports. Andrea Abodi recently confirmed that Malagò’s mandate is coming to an end. “It was out of place. It’s not just a style problem. I would never have done it”, this is how Malagò greeted the journalists. The Paris 2024 Olympics are over. However, the controversies will not end.

Paris 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony: A Spectacular Celebration of Sports, Culture, and Unity

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 11, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The Paris 2024 Summer Olympics ended on Sunday afternoon, after 16 days of competition in various sports.
The celebration began in the Tuileries Garden, where the French swimmer Léon Marchand, winner of four gold medals, removed the Olympic cauldron, one of the most visible symbols of the Games, to carry the flame in a lantern to the Stade stadium of France.
In the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron and German Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, among a large number of enthusiastic fans, the delegations participating in the Paris 2024 Olympics entered to the floor of the Stade de France.
One of the most prominent contemporary singers, Zahou de Sagazan, launched the artistic program of the concert by singing a classical piece immortalized in the Tuileries Palace, “Under the Parisian Sky”.
The 24-year-old young artist added a vintage touch to the beginning of the ceremony, as the best French artists sang this anthem for the capital, including Edith Piaf, Yves Montagne and Mireille Mathieu.
The closing ceremonies began in front of an estimated 71,500 spectators to end an Olympic Games widely hailed as one of the most spectacular ever held.
After the delegations entered the stadium with their country’s flags, a musical performance began amid a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere.
The ceremony included a theatrical performance called “Records,” which features a fictional presentation of a journey through time led by a “golden traveler.”
The journey begins from the origins of the Olympic Games through a sci-fi future in which the Olympic Games have disappeared and must be rediscovered.
During the trip, the traveler found symbols of peace and unity that support Olympic values.
Almost 270 artists and dancers performed dance and art performances, and the sports delegations that participated in the Olympic wedding continued to enter with almost 9,000 male and female athletes to the sound of French songs. English is the most famous.
The thrilling final show marked the start of the four-year countdown to the 2028 Los Angeles Games in California, United States.
The Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, presented the flag of the Olympic Committee to her partner Karen Bass in Los Angeles, which will host the 2028 Olympics.
The ceremony brought the curtain down on the final act of the often spectacular sporting competition against a backdrop of famous Paris landmarks from the Eiffel Tower to the Palace of Versailles to the Grand Palais.
